1. Watermelon
Apart from being absolutely delicious, this fruit is a summer essential. Since it’s mostly made up of water, consuming it often will keep your body cool.
2. Cucumber
This summer needs you to be ‘Cool as a cucumber’. And as the phrase goes, cucumbers are consumed to keep the body cool. This is because cucumbers contain a lot of water which helps you stay hydrated for the summer.
3. Coconut Water
Coconut water is very rich in nutrients that help in preventing and treating dehydration. It also helps in digestion and lowers blood pressure.
4. Basil Seeds
Basil seeds, also known as sabja, are used to lower body heat and that’s why they’re one of the most important ingredients in summer for a number of cool drinks such as sherbet. You could also soak it in water, add it to a glass of cold milk and drink it in the morning.
5. Mint Leaves
It is a cooling herb that should be consumed in summers. Just take a glass of cold water, add mint leaves, some honey and lime. It’s super refreshing!
6. Garcinia Indica (Kokum)
Kokum has been consumed by our ancestors for many generations. Kokum juice could be mixed with cold water to give you instant cooling in the stomach. It’s a very refreshing drink. It not only quenches your thirst but also helps in preventing dehydration and sunstrokes due to the heat.
7. Buttermilk
Buttermilk or chhaas contains yoghurt and many other herbs like mint leaves that instantly cool down the body temperature and hence, makes it an ideal summer drink.
