When it comes to fitness, Shilpa Shetty has always been at the forefront. She not only managed to stay fit over the years but also inspired many to follow suit. On the occasion of World Yoga Day, Shilpa spoke about her Yoga Journey and its positive impact on her life. It’s been 16 years since she adapted the practice and says there’s no look back.
Yoga is not just a form of exercise, it’s a complete lifestyle that strengthens and boosts both physical and mental health. It adds discipline, values and teaches one to love and respect the body just as one should. Shilpa Shetty was introduced to Yoga when she was dealing with a cervical issue and her physiotherapist suggested her to take up the practice to strengthen the spine. Eventually, Shilpa ended up liking the practice so much that it became a part of her lifestyle.
When asked about her Yoga journey, she said-
It helped me transform both physically and mentally, more like it aligned me and directed me in the right direction. Yoga regulates one’s behavior, emotions, and controls the mental faculties. Yoga becomes a part of lifestyle after consistent practice, it’s more like a disciple and you have to surrender to it. Nothing comes free in life, if you want to see the positive changes, you will have to put in efforts. Once that happens, you will see a lot of changes. With the rise of mental health issues and with all that’s happening around, I feel one should try to adopt a healthy lifestyle and focus on how to inculcate habits that make help in calming the mind and body. Yoga helped me in gaining clarity in my thoughts and actions. I have seen a major transformation over the past sixteen years and Y0ga played an important role in my life.
Yoga is indeed more than just a practice, the list of benefits is too long to even start talking about it. This World Yoga Day, we urge our readers to adopt a healthy lifestyle and work towards maintaining a good balance between physical and mental health.
