I have always been in awe of our celebrities for diligently doling out fitness goals to us. In fact, with social media getting bigger, the fitness goals also got frequent and strong. However, amongst the current crop of actors, I have been quite smitten by Alaya F who keeps doling out amazing Yoga poses for us on her Instagram. I recently spoke to the Jawaani Jaaneman actress about her journey with Yoga and the conversation only left me inspired. So, today as you and I celebrate Yoga day let’s take some fitspiration from everything Alaya has to say about this healthy form of lifestyle.
But before you read the excerpts from the interview, see this amazing Yoga pose from Alaya’s feed here:
Here are the excerpts from the interview:
On what Yoga means to Alaya…
Honestly, I started Yoga because I wanted a great workout. I remember the first time I met my Yoga teacher, I told her that all this inner peace and meditation I am not interested in, I just want to burn. Now that I have been doing yoga consistently, I have realized, Yoga is a very customizable thing, you can make it into anything you want. The best part about it is that the end result is always the same, you always feel more centered after a class, you feel fresh and so energized to take on the day, so it’s not something that drains you. That’s what I really love about Yoga, for me, it’s been a big energizer. Also, it always helps that, social media loves a nice cool yoga pose, so I am always happy to deliver on that end.
On her milestones with Yoga…
Anytime my teacher shows me something cool and I feel it will take me a long time to achieve, but I land up achieving it much before, those are always my happiest moments. I love those little victories in everyday settings, I love learning and getting things. These little milestones are always my favourite moments.
Her fun memory with Yoga…
A funny day was when I tried acupuncture for the first time and next day I was doing Yoga. I didn’t know that if you acupuncture for the first time, things are a little different in your body for 24 hours. So at the start of class I remember I was sitting with my eyes shut and my entire head started spinning.
On what keeps her going…
I just made myself a new vision board and its placed right in front of my bed. So whenever I am not feeling motivated and wanting to cancel a class, I immediately look at that board and I realize what my dreams are, that immediately gets me out of bed.
On a message, she would give to all those starting with Yoga…
Yoga differs from person to person. But the main thing I would say to anyone starting any sort of workout is that do it consistently. Give yourself a set number of classes that you commit to and finish. Don’t do it once and decide if it’s for you or not, try it a couple of times. If you need motivation, then do it with a friend which is always nice. Lot of times I do Yoga with a friend.
Workwise Alaya has two films coming up, one is Freddy with Kartik Aaryan and the other one is U Turn. And while her take on Yoga must have left you inspired, I wish you all fitness enthusiasts a very Happy International Yoga Day!
