December 5, 2025, is officially shaping up to be one of the most explosive days in recent box office history of Bollywood. Three leading stars, Shahid Kapoor, Ranveer Singh, and Prabhas, are prepping to release their hotly awaited movies on the same day, making the first Friday in December a battleground for movie supremacy. With heavy hitters, heavyweight budgets, and massive fanbases in play, this three-way confrontation is shaping up to be one of the business’ most electric showdowns in years.
Shahid Kapoor & Vishal Bhardwaj Reunite

After much speculation, it’s now officially confirmed that Shahid Kapoor’s untitled film, helmed by acclaimed director Vishal Bhardwaj, will stick to its original release date.
Earlier rumors suggested that the makers were considering moving the film to January 2026 to avoid the clash. However, Bollywood Hungama has learned that the production house, led by Sajid Nadiadwala, is sticking to the December 5 slot. And it turns out, they were the first ones to reserve that date.
A source informed Bollywood Hungama that the makers of Shahid Kapoor’s upcoming film were the first to secure the December 5 release date. The shoot is progressing steadily, and the film has turned out exceptionally well.
Sajid Nadiadwala is highly confident in the final outcome and sees no reason to alter the originally selected release date.
This film marks yet another collaboration between Shahid and Bhardwaj, who previously delivered power-packed films like Kaminey and Haider. In addition to Shahid, the film stars Triptii Dimri, Nana Patekar, and Randeep Hooda. It promises a perfect blend of Bhardwaj’s signature storytelling and mass-friendly commercial elements. Given Bhardwaj’s reputation for rich narratives and soulful music, this untitled project could well be a cinematic dark horse.
Enter: Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar

Adding fuel to the fire, Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar is also slated to release on December 5, 2025. The announcement came on July 6, which happens to be Ranveer’s birthday, adding a celebratory note to what is now being seen as a fierce box office showdown.
While not much is known about Dhurandhar, industry insiders suggest it’s a full-blown commercial entertainer that taps into Ranveer’s energetic screen presence. Directed by a yet-to-be-revealed filmmaker, the film is already creating buzz due to its intriguing title and Ranveer’s magnetic brand of acting. Given his recent impactful roles in Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani and 83, audience expectations are soaring.
Prabhas Brings the Horror-Comedy Heat

As if two superstars weren’t enough, Prabhas also joins the December 5 race with his Pan-India horror comedy The Raja Saab. The makers of this big-budget spectacle were the second to announce the release date, just a week before Dhurandhar made it official.
The Raja Saab is being presented as a genre-blending horror comedy, offering a refreshing shift for Prabhas following his high-octane action films like Salaar and Adipurush.
With good production standards and a pan-India release strategy, the movie is likely to draw audiences from all over the Hindi belt as well as the South Indian market.
Prabhas’ pan-India phenomenon makes the presence of the film in the clash a wild card in the box office equation.
A Date That Delivers
Interestingly, the first week of December has become one of the most sought-after positions in the release schedule. In 2023, Animal occupied the December 1 position and stormed past the ₹500 crore barrier. On the same date, Sam Bahadur, a genuine war drama starring Vicky Kaushal, also did well. Fast forward to 2024, Pushpa 2, widely regarded as one of the biggest blockbusters ever, is set to hit theaters on December 5.
Evidently, early December is no longer regarded as a risky time. Rather, it’s coming to be recognized as a sweet spot where movies can gain from a consistent run prior to the Christmas and New Year clientele desolating the theaters.
A Clash for the Ages?

Box office wars are nothing new to Bollywood. Over time, viewers have seen one epic battle after another, be it Dilwale vs. Bajirao Mastani (2015), Raees vs. Kaabil (2017), or Gadar 2 vs. OMG 2 (2023). Last year alone, Singham Again faced off against Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, dividing the audience right down the middle.
But what makes December 5, 2025, special is how diverse the films are and how huge the fan base is for them. A dark Vishal Bhardwaj thriller, a Ranveer Singh-titled masala entertainer, and a horror comedy of Prabhas—this is no clash of stars, but of genres and styles.
Whether all three movies can hold their own or one is the definite winner, this is certain: filmgoers are in for a treat.
Mark your calendars. December 5, 2025, is not just a date; it’s an event.
