Delhi Declares 120 Bahadur Tax-Free to Honour Rezang La Heroes

In a gesture that celebrates courage, sacrifice, and national pride, the Delhi Government has announced that the newly released war drama 120 Bahadur will be tax-free in the capital effective immediately. The decision is being hailed as a fitting tribute to the extraordinary bravery of the soldiers whose story the film brings to the forefront.

Released on November 21, 2025, 120 Bahadur is directed by Razneesh ‘Razy’ Ghai and stars Farhan Akhtar as Major Shaitan Singh Bhati, alongside Raashii Khanna. The 2-hour 17-minute film recreates the Battle of Rezang La, one of the most remarkable last stands in Indian military history.

The film honors the 120 soldiers of Charlie Company, 13 Kumaon Regiment, mostly Ahirs, who defended the strategic Rezang La pass during the 1962 India–China war. Vastly outnumbered and fighting in extreme sub-zero conditions without artillery support, the soldiers held their ground against nearly 3,000 advancing troops, refusing to retreat and displaying an unmatched spirit of duty and courage.

Critics have praised the film’s sincerity, powerful visuals, and stirring performances. Farhan Akhtar’s portrayal of Major Shaitan Singh has received particular appreciation for its intensity, emotional honesty, and dignified restraint. Early reviews describe the film as “technically brilliant” and “a heartfelt representation of a battle that shaped a nation’s pride.”

Government officials noted that the tax exemption is intended to encourage more citizens, particularly younger audiences, to learn about and honor this historic act of bravery. The move also recognizes the effort of the filmmakers in bringing this remarkable chapter of India’s past to the big screen.

The cast and crew expressed gratitude for the decision, viewing it as a reinforcement of the Indian public’s admiration for the soldiers whose legacy the film preserves.

With the film now tax-free in Delhi, audiences across the capital are expected to turn out in greater numbers to experience 120 Bahadur, a powerful reminder of the courage, resilience, and sacrifice that continue to inspire the nation.
