When the sequel to Gadar: Ek Prem Katha hit theaters in 2023 after 22 years, Gadar 2 stormed the box office. The film not only surprised with its massive numbers but also played a key role in reviving theaters at a time when OTT was dominating. However, beyond its success, much of the spotlight fell on lead actress Ameesha Patel and director Anil Sharma, who were publicly taking jabs at each other. Now, it seems the two have reconciled and are ready to reunite for Gadar 3.

In an interaction with News18, Sharma confirmed that he and Ameesha have moved past their differences. “My equation with Ameesha is great now. Waqt ke saath saath sab cheezein sahi ho jaati hai. Abhi sab badhiya hai! Sakeena and Tara are an integral part of Gadar. But we’ll discuss more about her character before the release of Gadar 3,” he said.

The filmmaker assured fans that the third installment is happening. “Gadar 3 will definitely get made. We’ve already made a commitment to the audience in the last scene of Gadar 2, where Utkarsh’s character Jeete is told that he’s worthy of joining the army. We ended the film with the message —to be continued,” Sharma explained.

He further added that while the film will take time, it won’t be decades:“Making Gadar 3 will take some time, but the audience can be assured that it won’t take another 20 years” (laughs). We’re hoping to take it to the floor in the next two years. We’ve already worked on the script. It will focus on the stories of Tara and Jeete.”

A Look Back at the Spat

For those unaware, tensions between Ameesha and Sharma escalated after she responded to a tweet alleging that her character, Sakina, was originally meant to kill the villain in the climax of Gadar 2. The claim suggested Sharma changed it at the last minute.

The director dismissed the allegation in a chat with Vicky Lalwani, insisting the climax was never altered without Ameesha’s consent. But Ameesha later posted multiple clips on X, where Sharma could be heard narrating a version of the climax in which Sakina killed the villain.

Despite the controversy, both have now decided to put the past behind them. With Tara, Sakina, and Jeete set to return, fans can look forward to yet another emotional and action-packed chapter in the Gadar franchise.
