Mumbai has been witnessing heavy rainfall over the past few days, bringing life in the city to a standstill. While Mumbaikars grapple with waterlogging and disrupted routines, social media hasn’t slowed down. A vlogger recently went viral after sharing visuals of waterlogged areas outside the residences of Bollywood celebrities, including Amitabh Bachchan and Rani Mukerji.
Vlogger Shows Flooded Celebrity Homes
Vlogger Sagar Thakur shared multiple videos on social media, capturing the impact of the downpour on some of the city’s most high-profile addresses. Showing the flooded stretch outside Amitabh Bachchan’s second residence, Pratiksha, in Juhu, he quipped, “Aap dekh sakte hain kitna paani bhar chuka hai. Kaha jaa raha hai? Amitabh Bachchan khud aaye the wiper leke, paani nikaal rahe the. Kitna bhi paisa ho, 1000 crore, Mumbai ki baarish se koi nahi bach paaya hai. Na Ambani, na Amitabh Bachchan.”
Thakur also documented the conditions outside the home of Aditya Chopra and Rani Mukerji. Streets around these residences were seen completely submerged after two days of relentless rain.
Celebrities React to Mumbai Rains
Several stars also spoke about the city’s resilience amid the deluge. Actress Hina Khan shared a heartfelt note on social media, writing, “No matter what. This city just doesn’t stop… The spirit of Mumbai lives through its indomitable people who need to make a living in this expensive city. Work, livelihood, hospital visits, shoots, and whatnot… They don’t have the luxury of sitting home and enjoying chai and pakodas. They do not waver. That’s Amchi Mumbai Local for you.”
Malaika Arora kept it simple, urging residents to “stay safe and stay indoors.” Meanwhile, Twinkle Khanna gave her followers a glimpse into her rainy-day routine. Sharing a video of herself reading from her book Welcome to Paradise, she wrote, “On a rainy day, here’s a little extract from Welcome to Paradise. I often find myself wishing I could go back and rewrite parts of my earlier books, but never with this one. It captured everything I wanted to say with a lightness of tone that I worked hard to achieve.”
Rain’s Wider Impact Across Maharashtra
Beyond celebrity homes, the situation in Maharashtra has turned grim. According to the state’s Disaster Management Department, heavy rains and flooding have claimed six lives in the past 24 hours, while five people remain missing in the Nanded district.
