Ananya Panday’s ‘Call Me Bae’ series has been much awaited ever since the exciting announcements and those eye-catching posters dropped. The buzz around this show has been growing, and it’s no wonder why! This series not only stars Ananya in the lead role but also features an exciting ensemble cast including Varun Sood, Vihaan Samat, Muskkan Jafferi, Gurfateh Pirzada, and Vir Das. The trailer finally gives us a taste of what’s to come, and it’s a laugh riot as Ananya’s character goes from living the high life to grappling with middle-class struggles.

In the trailer, we’re introduced to Ananya Panday as ‘Bae,’ a South Delhi girl who seemingly has it all. Her life is the epitome of luxury—she’s surrounded by designer bags, flashy cars, bling, and a massive house that screams wealth. Everything seems perfect, especially her picture-perfect wedding with Vihaan Samat. But then, in an instant, her life takes a drastic turn. Her credit cards get declined, and she’s uprooted to Mumbai, where she has to face real-life challenges for the first time. Watching her struggle to find a job, especially in that hilarious interaction with Gurfateh Pirzada, where she proudly claims to have done ‘social media journalism,’ had me laughing out loud. It’s these moments that make the series feel so relatable yet entertaining. The addition of Vir Das brings an amazing twist to the story, adding his signature humor to the mix. We also see her navigating the journey of finding new friends and adapting to her new reality. One of the highlights is a hilarious moment where the watchman delivers the line, “Aapki majboori jaha shuru hoti hai waha pahochna hi humara sapna hota hai,” and her reaction, “Where have I heard that one before?” This line and her reaction add a perfect touch of humor to her struggles.

I’m absolutely thrilled for this series! The blend of humor with the classic riches-to-rags story is just what I need, and I can already tell that Ananya is going to shine in this role. I’m eagerly counting down the days until September 6th when I can binge-watch ‘Call Me Bae’ on Amazon Prime Video.
