Today marks the blessing ceremony of Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant, and Radhika’s first evening as Mrs. Ambani is nothing short of breathtaking. I must say, she looks absolutely stunning in her outfit. For this special occasion, designers Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla collaborated with contemporary Indian artist and sculptor Jayasri Burman, along with Rhea Kapoor, to create the most unique dress for our beautiful bride.
The lehenga’s 12 panels are a true masterpiece, hand-painted on a special Italian canvas to bring Jayasri’s painting to life. Featuring Jayasri’s signature mythical aesthetic, the garment celebrates Anant and Radhika’s union with deeply meaningful imagery. I feel that the human figures representing the couple, radiating a celestial aura, perfectly honor the divinity in their humanity. The fauna, especially the elephants, which are considered auspicious and beautiful, depict Anant’s fondness for animals. This thoughtful inclusion adds a personal touch to the attire.
The craftsmanship is impeccable, featuring meticulous hand embroidery of real gold Zardozi. A glittering sea of sequins shines over the most intricate spaces of Jayasri’s art, making the lehenga sparkle with life. The blouse, entirely hand-embroidered in Resham by master craftsmen at Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla, complements the lehenga perfectly. I feel this ensemble conveys the joy of new beginnings and the excitement of living with the love of your life.
Commenting on the collaboration, Jayasri Burman said,
Abu Sandeep are artists. The only difference is that their medium is couture while mine is canvas. Both Rhea and Abu Sandeep gave me total creative freedom and understood my essence as an artist. I found my brush dancing all over the canvas. My only hope now is that it inspires a smile on Radhika’s face and maybe someday, we’ll even see it hanging on her wall!
This ensemble is the perfect ode to the perfect couple, Anant and Radhika. I can’t wait to see more of Radhika’s stunning looks as Mrs. Ambani!
