The glitz and glamour of Bollywood often come with a fair share of comparisons and speculations, especially when it comes to movies. Recently, during the trailer launch of the much-awaited film ‘Murder Mubarak’, Karisma Kapoor’s reaction to fans comparing it to ‘36 China Town’ sparked quite a conversation and it intrigued me cause the topic was such. The trailer launch event, adorned with the presence of the entire cast and makers, set the stage for discussions about the suspenseful murder mystery starring a stellar ensemble including Pankaj Tripathi, Sara Ali Khan, Vijay Varma, Karisma Kapoor, Sanjay Kapoor, Dimple Kapadia, Tisca Chopra, and Suhail Nayyar, among others.

Karisma initially expressed uncertainty about her sister Kareena Kapoor’s involvement in ‘36 China Town’, saying, “I’m not sure whether Kareena was there in this movie.” This candid moment brought a human touch to the event, showcasing that even Bollywood stars can have moments of forgetfulness about past projects. Upon being corrected by the team members about Kareena’s role in ‘36 China Town’, Karisma gracefully acknowledged her oversight and apologized, stating, “I may not have watched it. I haven’t watched this movie. So, I really can’t comment about that, but this movie is very different.” I honestly feel it is not necessary that Lolo may have watched all of Bebo’s films, and the comparison is somewhat unnecessary.
Karisma Kapoor’s reaction to comparisons between ‘Murder Mubarak’ and ‘36 China Town’ offers a refreshing perspective. I found her candidness and humility quite refreshing as well, while she also emphasised the uniqueness of each film. As fans and I eagerly await the release of ‘Murder Mubarak’, let’s celebrate the diversity and creativity of Bollywood cinema.
