I still remember the day when I first heard about the film ‘Crew’. It was announced a long time ago and since then, I have been quite intrigued. I mean, how often do we get to see three talented actresses like Kareena Kapoor Khan, Tabu, and Kriti Sanon sharing the screen? Finally, I got the chance to watch the movie, and I must say that it is one of the most enjoyable and lighthearted films I’ve seen lately.
Let me explain the plot. ‘Crew‘ is a story about three women who become air hostesses due to their financial constraints. Although they are dedicated to their jobs, their airline is not. The three women get tangled up in a mess and a series of hilarious events unfold. The film sets the tone right from the beginning, and Kareena, Tabu, and Kriti have done a fantastic job of making it an enjoyable watch. I must mention the styling team as well, as the actors look stunning throughout the film.
And the first person on the list is none other than Kareena Kapoor Khan! Let’s face it, she can pull off any character with ease, and we’ve already seen her impressive comic timing in Jab We Met and the Golmaal series. With Crew, she adds another feather to her cap. Her on-screen presence, camaraderie, and comic timing are simply outstanding. What’s more, is her character’s storyline – Jasmine is the black sheep of the lot, and Kareena brings her character to life perfectly. Trust me, after watching the film, even if you weren’t a Bebo fan before, you will become one. This queen of hearts will steal your heart away, period.
On the list, the second person is Tabu. Is there any genre this leading lady can’t ace? Just like wine, Tabu’s acting skills only keep getting better with time. Her character Geeta Sethi is Tech-o, the queen bee of the lot as well as her family. Geeta tries to balance both of them brilliantly even though she struggles to obtain PF from Kohinoor Air. Tabu makes you relate to Geeta’s life issues so organically that you can feel her frustration every time she says something sarcastic and funny. I must confess that I didn’t know how Tabu and Kareena’s camaraderie would work out, but I can gladly say that it is one of the best things about the film. The banter between the two is the cutest. What makes Tabu’s story more relatable is her supportive husband, Arun Sethi played by Kapil Sharma. The man does play his character well and delivers to make their love story believable. If Kareena is the queen of hearts of this project, Tabu surely is the ace card.
And now, of course, Kriti Sanon. It is a huge responsibility to star in a project and stand beside Tabu and Kareena who have such talent and to deliver, and Sanon does that so well. This triangle would be incomplete without Kriti, and she stands her ground so well throughout the film. Her character Divya’s life comes in a full circle in the film, and you’ll know what I am saying after you watch the film, kudos to Kriti for essaying the character so effortlessly. The other charm of Divya’s character is her college romance, Jaiveer (Diljit Dosanjh). Even though Diljit has a special appearance in the film, I can say that he won’t be leaving your mind even after you finish the film. His character is so lovable that the women around me couldn’t stop awwwing every time this Lover singer appeared on the 70mm.
While the film has some of the brightest moments, the story is a bit patchy in places. The second half in particular raises a lot of questions, such as how the characters’ destiny seems to be conveniently on their side, but these issues are easily overlooked. However, with catchy songs and an excellent cast, this movie is sure to be a blockbuster. In my opinion, it deserves a strong 4-star rating.
