Rishabh Shetty’s Kantara was undoubtedly one of my favourite films of 2022. From his acting to his direction, everything about the film was a visual treat and an unforgettable viewing experience. The filmmakers received a lot of critical praise for its storytelling as well. It was earlier reported that Rishabh announced the launch of the prequel with a grand muhurta ceremony on the 27th Of August.
The first part of the film is also out in Spanish and Italian
According to an exclusive report in Pinkvilla, the makers are looking at a theatrical release in late 2024, while they hope to see the film go on floors in November 2023. While the first part was shot in Shetty’s hometown in Kundapura, Kantara 2 will prominently be shot in Mangalore. The same report also says that Rishabh Shetty and his team have finished working on the script and at the moment are working on the pre-production of the film. Now this is so great news for all the Kantara and Rishabh Shetty fans. The film also did well with its box office collection, as it garnered 410 crores gross worldwide, whereas it was made on a humble budget of 16 Crores.
Kantara was a cinematic marvel to witness and the film has also been released in several other Indian languages. I hope to see National Award winner Rishab Shetty continue to do what he does best, tell us some amazing stories through his movies. I absolutely cannot wait to catch the prequel of this film Kantara 2 on the big screen!
