Saiyami Kher is all set to take on a power-packed role in this upcoming sports drama titled ‘Ghoomer’. The actor has been taking all kinds of training to be physically fit for the role of a para-athlete who emerges as a cricket prodigy. The film also stars Abhishek Bachchan who is all set to play the role of her coach in Ghoomer. To amp up her cricket skills for the role, the actress underwent training with former cricketer Murali Karthik. Check out a picture of the actress with Cricketer Murali Karthik.
Saiyami plays the role of a left-hand cricketer in Ghoomer and therefore preferred a left-hand bowler and batsman to train with. For this very reason, Murali Karthik fit right into the required criteria. Murali was a specialist slow left-arm orthodox bowler known for his loopy trajectory and ability to spin and bounce.
Here’s what Saiyami had to say about training with Karthik
I have been obsessed about cricket and played the game since school. I used to try playing the sport with both my hands but the dominant hand in life is my right hand so on Ghoomer, the challenge was to train and become a left-hander. It was very kind of Karthik to step in, help me with my action and give me those key points and small details that make the difference. I always loved his classic orthodox action as a kid. So it was so much fun training with him.

This R Balki directorial is inspired by the story of Karoly Takacs, the late Hungarian right-hand shooter who won two Olympic gold medals with his left hand after his other hand was seriously injured. Ghoomer is slated to release on 18th August, which will also premiere in 14th Indian Film Festival Of Melbourne and I just cannot wait to catch Saiyami in this power-packed avatar.
