Sunny Deol starrer Gadar 2 clashed with Akshay Kumar’s OMG 2 at the box office this Friday. Bollywood analysts had a lot of theories as to who would perform better at the box office and why. One of the two had a stronger advance booking, and it was Gadar 2. The reviews for both have been fairly good, but here’s how the two movies performed at the Box Office this Friday.
Sunny’s Gadar 2 rode on the nostalgia factor and raked in 39 to 40 Crores on its opening day, while Akshay Kumar’s OMG 2 earned 9 to 11 Crores as its Day 1 sale. When it came to occupancy, as per industry tracker Sacnilk, while Gadar 2 witnessed an afternoon occupancy rate of 53.1 per cent, OMG 2 saw an occupancy rate of 46.86 per cent. Tickets for Gadar 2 are selling like hotcakes across the country, and I am hoping to see OMG 2 catch up to this craze. The audience seems to be enjoying both the films for their own set of reasons and looks like this Independence Day weekend is going to be a fun ride for all moviegoers.

In conclusion, Gadar 2 seems to be ahead of OMG 2 when it comes to opening-day sales and cinema occupancy. I cannot wait to find out how the two perform in the coming days.
