Adipurush, the highly anticipated and expensive film adaptation of Ramayana, has suffered a major setback at the box office. Adipurush stars Prabhas as Raghava, Saif Ali Khan portrays Lankesh and Kriti Sanon takes on the role of Janaki. Despite an outstanding opening weekend with remarkable numbers, Adipurush experienced a significant decline in collections on its first Monday, plummeting by an astounding 75 percent.
According to Box Office India, the film’s Hindi collections ranged between Rs 8-9 crore net. Adipurush experienced a substantial decline in all aspects, making it impossible for the film to sustain itself at the box office following an initially successful weekend. According to the report, the Hindi collections for the four-day period of the film directed by Om Raut will amount to approximately Rs 113 crore net. Trade analyst Taran Adarsh stated that Adipurush faced significant setbacks mainly due to negative word of mouth. Since its release on Friday, the film received widespread criticism for its visual effects, unimpressive character design, and, most notably, the Adipurush dialogues written by Manoj Muntashir. These issues eventually escalated into a national controversy surrounding the movie. In response to the backlash received for distorting and “disrespecting” the epic, the creators of Adipurush made the decision on Sunday to modify certain controversial dialogues in the film.
Overall the movie did extremely well the first weekend but due to bad word of mouth, the movie is seeing a big drop since Monday.
