We know the Lakmé Fashion Week x FDCI has been the talk of the town and I just cannot seem to get enough of it. Day 2 at Fashion Week saw some head-turning show stoppers, walking the ramp wearing jaw-dropping outfits from designers like Tarun Tahilani, Gabriella, Tanieya Khanija, and Varun Nidhika to name a few. Take a look at the round-up of designers from Lakmé Fashion Week x FDCI Day 2. Day 3 surprised us and how! From Zeenat Aman exuding absolute queen energy to Athiya Shetty stunning us all with her walk. Here are the designers who showcased their work on Day 2 of the Lakmé Fashion Week x FDCI 2023.
Jajaabor & Shahin Mannan
Jajaabor’s collection brought a fun colourful energy to the ramp with its designs. It aimed to narrate two aspects of Indonesia- One, Indonesia’s national motto “Bhinekka Tunggal Ika (Unity In Diversity) and two, the untouched marine biosphere of Nusa Tenggara. The designs were the perfect amalgamation of the two. Shahin Mannan’s collection ‘Circle’ celebrated celebrates the infinite possibilities of fashion, inspired by the timeless and powerful symbol of the circle. The outfits embodied fluidity, versatility and elegance. And who else would be a better showstopper for this than Zeenat Aman herself. She truly stole not just the show, but the night for me.
Disha Patil & Annu’s Creation
Disha Patil’s collection ‘Hasu’ centred around flowers and the patterns they formed in nature, and the designs were inspired by their symmetry. Diana Penty as the showstopper added the perfect glam to this collection. Annu’s Creation had a variety of fun pastel hues with Tara Sutaria as their showstopper. Intricate patterns and work on beautiful lehengas brought back the old-world charm to the runway.
Anushree Reddy & Punit Balana
Anushree Reddy’s collection, “Ahilaya” takes inspiration from apsaras, from the mythological age. And who else would be a fitting showstopper to this show, than Bollywood’s Apsara herself, Sushmita Sen! Punit Balana’s collection, “Utsav- A celebration of Rajasthan” celebrated textures from the Kalbelia community of Rajasthan, with a range of men’s wear and women’s wear. Sara Ali Khan made sure all eyes are on her as she walked the ramp in a red ghagra and a beautiful blouse accompanied by a heavy dupatta.
Abhishek Sharma, Ritika Mirchandani
Abhishek Sharma’s collection, “Coral reefs” takes inspiration from the mesmerising beauty of the coral reefs, as the colour palette emerges from the serenity of pearls, shells, fluid aqua, tones of corals and pink pearls. Ritika Mirchandani’s collection, “Faire La Fete” caught my eye for its structured shoulders and free-flowing capes. Parineeti Chopra walked the ramp as the show stopper for the designer, in an off-white blouse, high slit skirt and a long open jacket.
Arpita Mehta
Arpita Mehta’s collection had the most fun range of colours, giving us vacation outfit goals for sure. The colour palette was an exciting mix of toasted orange, acid yellow, sage green, and coconuts that bring the summer vibes to life. And raising the temperature this summer galore was Shanaya Kapoor in a bright sleek yellow saree as the show stopper.
Namrata Joshipura
Namrata Joshipura with her collection brought some futuristic fashion looks to the ramp. From, prints, to colours to textures, it was a fashion (r)evolution. What stole the show for me was Athiya Shetty‘s look as the show-stopper. In a purple pants suit, the actress stunned us all.
Monisha Jaising
Monisha Jaising’s collection brought glam to the runway and how! Her designs consisted of intricate embellishments where said more is less. Yes, you read that right. A poolside, resort glamour collection for the summers merged with couture and it was an absolute win-win for me. Walking the ramp as her show stopper was Taapsee Pannu in a red embellished gown that you couldn’t take your eyes off.
JJ Valaya
JJ Valay’s collection, JJV.Kapurthala was an experience in itself. Taking us back to the days of his forefathers who travelled the world. His designs borrowed inspiration from the small nuances of their journey. The gold masks added a Schiaparelli touch in their own unique way. On the other hand, Rashmika Mandanna in a gorgeous metallic saree grabbed all the eyeballs in the room, with her chic yet bold makeup and look.
While day 3 stunned us all with some crackling designs, day 4 is going to be even bigger, without a doubt. Stay tuned for more updates!
