Our Bollywood Superhero this week is a fearless boy who made one hell of a lemonade when life threw lemons at him. Yes, like every other mass media student, Sanjit Asgaonkar also entered the industry with some very big dreams, and like many of us, his road to success has not been an easy one. But today, as he sits two years later looking at how well his company Splendid PR is running, Sanjit only has a proud story to tell. Well as of now he is working with the best of celebs from Uorfi Javed, and MC Stan to Siddharth Nigam, Amruta Khanvilkar, and many more. Honestly, for Sanjit all I can say is, he came, he saw, and he conquered…
In fact, telling me about his journey began, Sanjit shares…
It has been almost 5-6 years in the business. I started off the journey when I was in college and had joined a channels as an intern – a journalist. It started off well, I was allowed to interview Bollywood celebs, write articles, attend events, award shows, etc. All of this was really fascinating but I didn’t know if I really wanted to continue. I was just exploring. After I completed my graduation, I found an internship in one of the well-known PR agencies, and from there the journey started. I was really fascinated with the kind of job profile I had, it was exciting for me to see all these faces every day, to interact with them, and attend events with them. But there were struggles too, especially in terms of work politics.
He further added…
I knew that I always wanted to be a part of the entertainment industry somehow, I had left my finance marketing studies in between. I always wanted to have a job where I would be doing new things every day, having different challenges, and push myself to do something exciting. After working for like two years at the same place, I joined another agency where I worked for a year and a half and then unfortunately the pandemic happened. At the same time my father was diagnosed with cancer. The news left me shocked but the only thing which came in my mind was how do I earn more so that I can clear the bills for his treatment. So I decided start my own agency, I was taking the risk at a time where the things were most difficult. But as people say that if you work hard and do not give up, god does watch you and help you reach where you want to reach and here I am today.
Today, Sanjit works with some very renowned celebrities, in fact, he even shares who all are on his clientele…
My agency Splendid PR just completed 2 years and I feel grateful about it. The time I started, I worked with names from TV who were not so popular but knew who I was. I started taking work with half the price of what other PRs charged, fortunately it turned out to be a blessing as the work was appreciated and somehow I got opportunities to work with celebs who were big. Currently, I am working with stars like Uorfi Javed, MC Stan, Anjali Arora, Rahul Vaidya, Himanshi Khurana, Mahira Sharma, Amruta Khanvilkar, Siddharth Nigam, Paras Chhabra, Nishant Bhat, Anjum Fakih, Mohammad Nazim, Kanwar Dhillon, Addinath Kothare, Namish Taneja, Ali Merchant, Ira Sone, Abhishek Nigam and the list goes on.
When MC Stan won the Bigg Boss 16 trophy it was a big moment for Sanjit too, he says…
Two of the most special moments for me were, when my client MC Stan won the Bigg Boss 16 trophy this year. I have been doing bigg boss every year, but never thought that I would ever have a winner, I had really worked hard for this one and it was such an overwhelming moment for me. The second moment was when my star Uorfi Javed was given the platform she deserved. I am her manager as well as her PR we both started our journeys together and now that she is rocking in all those outfits of top Bollywood designers like AbuJani Sandeep Khosla, Gaurav Gupta, Rahul Mishra or Anaita Shroff, it makes me just feel proud.
While Sanjit opines that it is important for an actor to hire a professional to handle their work, he even parts some wisdom for those entering this field. He says…
Keep following your dreams and work hard you will reach the top one fine day. Also, do not forget that being successful doesn’t end the journey of working hard, you need to keep doing it to be successful for life.
Well, Sanjit’s story is something that proves that taking a risk if you can work hard will yield great results. On that note, I wish Sanjit all the very best in all his future endeavours.
