There were some pathbreaking performances in the year 2022, that do deserve some praise. They made us laugh, they made us shed a few tears, some even made us furious with their villainous roles. To name a few, there was Vijay Varma in Darlings, Tripti Dimri in Qala. Find out other pathbreaking performances in the list below.
1. Vijay Varma – Darlings
Here is a man who knows what he is doing, and does it remarkably well. He took on the character of a wife beater and a manipulative husband, so well, that people found it hard to disassociate him from his character. In a recent roundtable of actors, Vidya Balan mentioned how she hated his character so much that she could not even call him up to congratulate him.
2. Pankaj Tripathi – Criminal Justice
They call him the king of OTT, and rightly so. His unique style, so saying so much without saying anything in front of the camera is what makes him the king of OTT. May it be the iconic head nod, that speaks volumes or his gripping characters on screen which always keep the audience hooked.
3. Tripti Dimri – Qala
Tripti has come a long way since Laila Majnu or even Bulbul for that matter. The grace that each of her characters showcases on screen is truly unmatched. In her latest, Qala she truly shines through in every scene even though her character struggles to make space for itself in her family’s life.
4. Masaba Gupta – Masaba Masaba 2
From designer to actor, Masaba has soared and how. She has not only put her life on screen, but also shone on screen like the star she is. This semi-fictional watch will keep you hooked with its emotive characters and storyline.
5. Prateik Babbar – India Lockdown
Prateik Babbar’s who played the role of a migrant worker in India Lockdown, alongside Sai Tamhankar. His acting was convincing and he stood out with his performance, for me. Hoping to see him star in a lot more this coming year.
6. Rohit Saraf – Mismatched 2
Looks like we have a new chocolate boy in town. With half the nation swooning over his cheeky smile, it has been a great year for Rohit with his performance in Mismatched 2. Truly the heartthrob of OTT this year.
7. Sushmita Sen – Aarya
Sushmita has truly put her fiercest foot forward with Aarya this year. Playing a mother, who has to protect her kids with all her might, you truly see the lioness come out in her. But you also see the soft loving side of her.
8. Neena Gupta – Panchayat
I truly adore Neena Gupta playing a mother from a small town. There is something so charming about each of these roles. In Panchayat, she plays a housewife who is actually the Sarpanch, but her role is over taken by her husband. However, she really comes through as a Sarpanch when her town needs her.
9. Huma Qureshi – Maharani 2
It has always been a pleasure watch Huma Qureshi on screen. This year she put on a show with some stellar performances in Monica O My Darling and Maharani 2. Her roles wooed the audience with their wit and charm. In Maharani we got to see her fierce her, which kept me hooked throughout!
10. Gulshan Devaiyah – Duranga
He brings a sort of energy on screen that I haven’t seen in many. A calm but chaotic energy that completes his onscreen presence. In Duranga, was an adaptation of award-winning Korean series and a commendable one for that fact. Gulshan plays the role of a murder accused, living a normal life with his family but little do you know what lies underneath this character.
