If I could pick the best way to end this year, it would be watching Rohit Shetty‘s Cirkus. The Ranveer Singh starrer gives you exactly what you need, a great dose of entertainment. The comedy-drama of 2 hours 20 minutes doesn’t have a dull moment, in fact, its gags will crack you up even after the film is over. Starring Ranveer, Pooja Hegde, Jacqueline Fernandez, and Varun Sharma in important roles, the film has a huge star cast. The extended cast includes Sudhir Mishra, Ashwini Kalsekar, Johnny Lever, Siddhartha Jadhav, Vrijesh Hirjee, Nikitin Dheer, and many more. While having all members from the Golmaal Universe come together was a treat, the story was what made me laugh the loudest. Seeing Deepika Padukone in a special appearance only adds more amazingness to the film.

Things I liked about Cirkus…
1. The Story
The good part about this story is that there is no story, you just need to go with the flow. Based on Shakespeare’s Comedy Of Errors, the story has not just been brilliantly written in an Indian setting, but it is also weaved and told in quite a fun way. The jokes, puns, punches, and even the slapstick segments are so hilarious and well-placed that they will make you burst out laughing. I loved the dialogues that have been given to Siddharth and Sudhir especially.
2. Deepika Padukone’s special appearance in Current Laga Re
It would be very unfair if I did not give a shoutout to the glam Deepika has further added to this one. Watching Deepika and Ranveer dance on the big screen is quite the spectacle and the energy is contagious. Current Laga Re is a vibe to watch on the big screen and I was glad to witness all that energy in the theatre as the song played. This one surely deserves brownie points.
3. Ranveer Singh and Varun Sharma
It is always a delight to watch Ranveer on the big screen, but imagine watching him in a double role, It is surely double the fun. Besides Ranveer, Varun Sharma too leaves quite an impression with his double role. His character is literally all things sweet and what really ends up working for this Shetty flick is Ranveer and Varun’s camaraderie.
Things that could have been better…
1. The characters
The lead characters in the film looked a little underutilized, especially, Pooja and Jacqueline. There was so much that Varun and Ranveer could bring to the table but that felt untapped. In fact, the film has its moments where it gets a little dragged.
2. The climax and songs
Even though we all know what the climax would be, the build-up to it gets a little dragged. The climax is great, but the way to it could have been shortened. Even the other songs, Sunn Zara and Aashiqui didn’t resonate with me much.
In all honesty, I believe the film is fun to watch. All throughout the film, you will see the vibe he brings to the story. In fact, Cirkus makes you live all the emotions in those 2 hours. It’s colourful and fun, and will surely leave you in a happy space.
