Every millennial would vouch for the fact, that TV has played a major role in us growing up. Yes, we have watched it, be it saas-bahu sagas or the reality show rage, in fact, I have even seen the quality of content grow over the years. While today the soap opera culture is still ruling over a certain audience, the makers are telling stories that resonate with the audiences, one such tale is Dharampatni. Even though dipped in traditional flavors, the Colors TV show is quite modern. Starring Fahmaan Khan and Kritika Singh Yadav as the main leads, it premiered this week. But when I saw Fahmaan on Bigg Boss 16, I was quite surprised and so I got into a quick chat with him about his latest show, why didn’t we see him on Bigg Boss this year, and a lot more.

Talking about Dharampatni and his character, Fahmaan said…
Dharampatni is a show about two couples of different origins, one of them is from Gujarat and one from Chandigarh. When they cross paths what happens, is what the show is about. My character in the show is a business tycoon, he is a fun guy and he is very confident. He loves his childhood sweetheart who can shut him up, it’s a very interesting character.
When I asked Fahmaan why didn’t we see him on Bigg Boss 16 this year and does he plan to be on the show in the future, he said…
I have never thought about what the future holds for me, right now, Bigg Boss was not the space or time for me. I am here to be an actor and want to play different characters, I have the opportunity to do that right now, so I will continue doing that as long as I can.

I have seen the growth of the audience, I have grown as an actor, but the audience has matured too. They have understood now that actors play characters. The industry has changed by showing different kind of content, when I started, drama was very different from what it is today. Even when I did Mere Dad Ki Dulhan, it was a very progressive show. Imlie was also in that space. Because the audience has grown we can also show them good content.
Well, it is indeed a virtue to not dwell on the idea of what the future holds, and for Fahmaan, I am sure it’s all good things in store. Having said that, you can watch his new show on Colors TV at 8 pm from Monday to Friday.
