Gender truly is a thing of the past, amirite? And gendered beauty products, more so. Since the dawn of time, perfumes have been divided into men’s perfumes and women’s perfumes. Certain scents are touted as masculine ones and a select few are touted as feminine ones. For us, it’s all the same. We’re firm believers that, if you like something— wear it, use it, adorn it. All without the shackles of society telling you that it’s not meant for you.
Am I the only person who prefers men’s fragrances over women’s? Well, I’m a sucker for a sexy scent that makes me go weak in my knees. Not just on my dream man, but on me too! I’ve always enjoyed scent profiles that cater to men, because of the typical notes they possess. So naturally, I’ve got a few favourites that hold a special place in my heart and on my pulse points too!
Here are a few perfumes that I love on men, and on myself too.—
Dior, Sauvage
For me, Sauvage by Dior is at the top of this list. Most ardent fragrance lovers would argue with me and say it’s quite the clichéd scent, but nothing’s sexier. The inspiration of this scent was the enchanting hour of twilight blended with the coolness of the night. Juicy notes of Calabrian bergamot perfectly complement the sensual Papua New Guinean Vanilla Extract. The crossover between woody and citrus notes has my olfactory senses fluttering each time.
Tom Ford, Ombre Leather
A cult favourite amongst most men, Tom Ford’s Ombre Leather has certainly made a mark in this industry. Everytime I realise my date is wearing this scent, I automatically go weak in the knees. A delightful mixture of floral leather and spices, Ombre Leather has the power to be grounding and sexy at the same time. With key notes of black leather mingling with notes of violet and jasmin, this fragrance is an absolute charm.
Davidoff, Cool Water Reborn
A legendary fragrance in it’s own right, Davidoff’s Cool Water has stood the test of time and how! The Cool Water Reborn is very similar to it’s original counterpart. Something about this scent on a man just does it for me, and I’m sure you too. An intensely refreshing scent that has the power to transport you to the ocean, Cool Water Reborn opens with the revitalising essence of rosemary and galbanum with a hint of sensuality all thanks to vetiver.
Christian Dior, Tobacolour
Like we said before, gender is a thing of the past. Tobacolour by Christian Dior is a unisex perfume that is strong, playful and feminine. A contradictory mix of hot and chilly fragrances, Tobacolour is quite an individualistic fragrance that isn’t for the faint of heart. A fruity tobacco which has intense smokey notes as well are juicy, fruity ones— that’s what this scent is. Now do you get why we said it’s not for the faint of heart?
Calvin Klein, Obsession
Compared to the other scents in this list, Calvin Klein’s Obsession is a tad bit mellow, still hella spicy nevertheless! This one is a warm scent that comes in with woody and amber notes too. I’d like to say that it kinda gives me a very Christmas-y vibe. However, even though this maybe a spicy scent, it opens up with a fresh burst of citrus, with berries adding some structure to it as well. So its definitely not an overpowering spicy fragrance at all!
Ajmal Perfumes, Silent Storm
A perfect mix of woody whiffs and citrus scents, Silent Storm by Ajmal Perfumes is a subtly sexy fragrance. Belonging to the aromatic woody family, this one has top notes of mandarin and juniper berries, heart notes of amber and cedarwood along with base notes of musk, jasmine and vanilla. A long-lasting scent, Silent Storm by Ajmal Perfumes does a great job at mingling sensuality with stability.
