The world of fragrances can be quite an intimidating one to step into, I think. I began my journey with perfumes just a couple of years ago and I’m still trying to figure my way into the whims and fancies of it. With so many options out there, it’s not surprising that one can get overwhelmed or even confused with the options out there. Top notes, base notes, and bottom notes of different fragrances can be a lot of information to register for one person. Hence, sometimes it’s always best to stick to the classic fragrances that have been around for a good time.
These classic fragrances have stood the test of time and been loved by one and all. While choosing the right fragrance for yourself is a very personal choice and not every scent is universal, there are a few scents that you can’t help but fall in love with each and every time you take a whiff of them. Here are a few classic fragrances that will always remain in vogue, for all of us.
DIOR, Miss Dior
Think of happiness and excitement having a scent, that’s Miss Dior by DIOR for you. Centifolia Rose contributes to honeyed and soft notes mingled with fresh Lily-Of-The-Valley notes along with notes of peony too. This scent always reminds me of a bouquet of flowers thoughtfully gifted to be by a lover. Like a naturally romantic fragrance that reminds us to believe in love a little more than we do.
Chanel, No. 5 Eau De Parfum
Probably one of the most iconic and revolutionary scents to have ever been created, Chanel’s No. 5 Eau De Parfum is a legendary fragrance. It’s been over a 100 years since it’s inception and it remains just as popular. An exotic blend of over a whopping 80 ingredients from rose to jasmine and ylang-ylang, the No. 5 scent is a head turner everywhere you go. If Marilyn Monroe was an ardent-lover of this fragrance, what are you waiting for?
Burberry, Her
Her by Burberry is a relatively new fragrance that’s quickly become a timeless one in its own right. Some would say it’s a dominantly fruity fragrance, but I think it’s a perfect blend of fruity, floral and musky scents. With top notes of raspberry and strawberry, it’s pretty evident why it comes across as a fruity scent. Jasmine and violet make a floral appearance as middle notes along with patchouli, amber and oakmoss acting as woody notes.
Calvin Klein, CK One
If there was a scent out there that was created for everyday use, it would be Calvin Klein’s CK One. The 90s baby in me is always very reminiscent of this fragrance because in a way it transports me back to those days. It’s a crisp, cool fragrance that can be worn by all genders. Its top notes feature zesty tones like Mandarin orange and bergamot and soothe down into rose and jasmine. The bottom notes definitely do have a lingering musky scent.
Marc Jacobs, Daisy
If summer could be captured in a bottle, Marc Jacobs Daisy would definitely be it. Everything about this fragrance, right from the adorable packaging with the flowers to the scent itself practically screams summer. It has fruity top notes of wild berries followed by floral heart notes of white violet and jasmine followed by sandalwood in the base notes. A typically feminine scent that doesn’t disappoint you at all, Daisy is also quite long-lasting.
Narciso Rodriguez, For Her Eau De Parfum
Now, we’re all aware that Deepika Padukone single-handedly caused a shortage of this fragrance in India when netizens found out it was her favourite one. Why do you think she loves it so much? Narciso Rodriguez’ For Her is a floral yet woody and musky fragrance, and we must say that it walks the line between those two quite perfectly. You’ll find yourself getting a whiff of roses as well as a sensual fragrance of patchouli too.
Thierry Mugler, Alien
To most fragrance lovers this scent could be a tad bit intense and powerful, but still a classic. Thierry Mugler’s Alien comes in an opulent purple bottle that practically breathes luxury. I’d personally say this scent is for special occasions like anniversaries or birthdays. Alien features top notes of the dreamy jasmine, flows onto some orange and finally settles upon amber.
Byredo, Gypsy Water
Byredo has certainly created some rippling waves in the world of fragrances, amirite? Gypsy Water is probably one of the most unique scents on this list, and you’re going to find out why. Clean and woody, this fragrance opens with juniper berries and bergamot which give its fresh scent and one can also find remnants of incense and sandalwood here. Now which other scent is going to offer you such an eclectic blend? No wonder it’s a celebrity fan favourite.
Davidoff, Cool Water Woman Reborn
Okay, I have to admit that Davidoff’s Cool Water Man Reborn is one of the sexiest fragrances ever created. However, what most of us aren’t aware of is how equally enchanting it’s feminine counterpart is. The Cool Water Woman Reborn by Davidoff is a blend of a floral and an aquatic scent, it’s probably one of the most refreshing scents out there. With notes of citrus and rose, this one is a head turner fo sho!
Victoria’s Secret, Bombshell
Growing up, if you owned a body mist by Victoria’s Secret meant that you were one of the cool kids. But if you owned a perfume, you were even cooler! Bombshell by Victoria’s Secret is a sexy fragrance with notes of fresh-cut peonies with the Madagascan Vanilla Orchid adding a sweet note to it at the same time. This one is a classic fruity yet floral fragrance, one that we’ve grown up using and probably will continue to for the years to come.
