In an exclusive interaction with team MissMalini, Vijay Deverakonda opens about making his Bollywood debut after a decade of starring in Telugu cinema, mouthing Hindi and Telugu for Liger and much more.

On working in a bi-lingual film, Liger…
I had to flip between languages, its not too hard to do it when you have the dialogue written. Liger is not a dialogue heavy film. It is an action oriented film. I was stammering, so it was fun to play with the dialogue with both languages. It was fun to dub the film as well. I had to shoot it in Hindi and Telugu. Ananya shot her part in Hindi. I must say Ananya and Ramya mam’s scenes were hilarious.
On making a Bollywood after a decade of acting in Telugu cinema…
The movies you are talking about were still like supporting roles and minor roles. To even make my debut as a leading Telugu actor, it took me 2016. It was a small film called Pelli Choopulu. That itself was a task in itself. I had to move earth and mountains to make that happen. For people back home, people think my Bollywood debut is really quick. I don’t know if it was quick or it took so long, I just felt ready at this particular moment and hence I took it up. I don’t think few years ago I was ready for it.
On social media playing important role in making him PAN India star…
You want to tell stories to the biggest audience out there and there is no bigger audience than India. I think before it was hard to reach out a couple of years back. Now it has happened due to environmental reasons, technological reasons. social media. It has connected us in some way, so it makes it easy to communicate with everyone. Only because people recognize me in these states, otherwise I had to introduce myself from scratch. Now its up to us to exploit it.
