I am an admirer of Kareena Kapoor Khan from the time she made her debut in Refugee. I think with every film and a character, the actress has pushed the envelope with her performances. Be it Chameli, Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham, Jab We Met, the actress has always made sure to bring the best out of her. In an exclusive interaction with Team MissMalini, Kareena speaks about resembling to her character, completing 22 years in Bollywood and her inspirations.

On resembling to any character…
I think every character of mine has a bit of me. The way everybody sees me and knows me, they think I am just like that. I am relaxed, chill, mad, positive and fun loving. Generally, I am a happy person. I am a Virgo and I have my feet on the ground.
On completing 22 years in Bollywood…
I love it, this is the place where I wanted to be, I always wanted to act and play different roles and now its like I have seen so many changes in the industry itself. Post the COVID also there has been so much of change. I am happy that I am a part of this change. I am happy the kind of roles I am getting now, the scripts I am reading. Like I am reading five scripts now and I wish I could do all five, but I can’t
On pushing the envelope with unconventional characters…
Aamir and I were having a conversation, he wanted me to see the Laal Singh Chaddha, and I was like I can’t. I get anxious. I wait for the release and then I go back. I am always scared to watch my movies, I think I am going to be like my biggest critic.
On her playing an iconic character Geet from Jab We Met…
Geet was like a ray of hope, most of my characters of my films had that. It has a lot of positivity. I think that’s what people connect with me. They think Bebo is like this, so everyone has that in their mind. Honestly, that is the kind of person I am. I think its was a difficult character to play. There is a fine line that you cannot cross of going over the top. It was about being real and making it real. There was no reference point for my characters. For me, I always loved performances of Sridevi ji, Madhuri, Kajol and Karisma’s films. These are people who have influenced my career in every way.
