When I saw the first season of Masaba Masaba, I was completely impressed. Masaba Gupta was magical in her debut web-series along with Neena Gupta. Her natural acting, coolness and attitude kept me hooked in the first season. And now after watching the second season, I am again delighted. The most fascinating and hilarious thing in this season was the love triangle between Masaba, Neil Bhoopalam and Armaan Khera. In an exclusive conversation with Team Miss Malini, Masaba shares her thoughts on inspiring youngsters, listening to her heart and lots more.

On how much of Masaba is into this season…
In everything that I do, there is 99.9 per cent of Masaba, even with this season that’s the case. In every character, instance and event that unfolds on screen, there’s a little bit of me in it. Either the way I respond to something that has happened to my life. Something that has excited me, not excited me. You will see it. There’s an underlying Masaba in every character.
On dealing with topics like mental health…
There is also a lot of mental health conversation which is very important. There is conversations around girls in their 30s who haven’t found a partner. We have just normalized a lot of things that people want to talk about. We were like lets go all out all guns blazing.
On hearing about her mentor Wendell Rodrigues’ sad demise…
I was in a public place when I heard the news, I became numb, It was like someone telling me that this person’s not gonna be around. He was the person whom I looked up to, called up for advice, most minor things in life. Be it my career, or a personal thing. The closure happened through a scene on the show.
On romantic angle in the show….
Neil Bhoopalam is an old lover who is playing Dhairya. In this season, he has become nice, lovely, kind, attentive man. He was like condescending to me in first season and now he has become lovely, romantic and lovey-dovey. Then you have Fateh, played by Armaan Khera, the new entrant. He is like this cool guy, who doesn’t want to get married, or wanna get married but wants to have multiple affairs as well. They are both so different.
On what she thinks about her mom, Neena Gupta…
One thing that I really like about her is how honest she is. I think lot of the time our parents unnecessarily chadhao us. and I don’t think we need that. She is the truth bomb and never has unnecessary conversations. I just want to inform everyone that Neena ji is a very scary person (laughs). Do not take it for granted and think that she is a happy fun loving person.
On being an actor…
I always wanted to be one, when someone tells you, you can’t do something you are like I will do it. People have said that acting is the not right thing for me. And, I don’t blame them because the industry has had always a certain type of people. They look like a certain way and today, that’s changing which is great. Now, I have that opportunity.
On inspiring youngsters…
When we take a stand, when we do something we empower a generation. and it is very important, we do things anyway. If we fail, its important that we give it a shot.
On listening to her heart…
It is important to listen to your heart or your brain. I find practicality is something that always works better with a little bit of heart. If you have a little bit of emotion behind your practicality and logic, always you will do better.
