The monsoons have taken over and the cloudy skies are making us feel the gloomy. As the rains hit the ground, our cravings hit the roof. From some crispy onion pakoras to spicy misal pav and classic vada pav. Monsoons are known for the amazing food they bring in with them.

The rains just make you lazy and you hardly find the motivation to get things done. The best thing to do during the rains is to put on your favorite show, bring out the greasy snacks and keep munching. We list down some of our favourite rainy day snacks to find in the city.

1) Chura Pav, Ashok Vada Pav, Dadar

Ashok Vada Pav will always greet you with a long queue of people waiting to their Vada Pav. It is one of the busiest Vada Pav stalls in the city. But the minute you dig in to this Vada Pav, it will charm you. The crispy golden fried outside with a spicy masala filing embraced in the soft pav with chura bit, a tangy mix of chutneys and hot, red dried garlic powder which will kick in the dose of spice and tang, perfect for the weather.

2) Chole Samosa, Guru Kripa, Sion

Guru Kripa is one of the classic places in Bombay that offer a range of authentic, delectable street food. From Chole Kulcha, Paani Puri, Tikki Chaat and more. My personal favourite has to be their signature Chole Samosa. The hot and savoury Samosa with a spicy, tangy Chole gravy topped with their special chutneys. This dish is just beautiful and bursts with flavours.

3) Bhel, Gupta Chaat Centre, Matunga

When in Bombay, don’t miss out on Bhel, they say and it’s worth it all. Gupta Chaat Centre doesn’t disappoint ever. They have the tangiest, zingiest bhel with crispy chana daal, sour raw mango slices and loads of their famous chutney. This Bhel will help you get rid of the rainy day blues and just set the mood.

4) Bhajiya, Chai Pe Charcha, Multiple Outlets

Bhajiya Pav is a Bombay classic. From aloo and pyaaz bhajiya to the spicy mirchi vada to the ultimate bread pakora. Bombay is a sucker for pakoras. Chai pe Chracha offers a pakora platter and lets you binge on the city’s favourite snack with matka chai and chutney.

5) Pav Bhaji, Classic, Matunga

Buttery, soft pav with the spicy bhaji and dollops of butter is pure heaven. The Pav Bhaji at Classic is a speciality and is absolutely unmissable. As I write about this Bhaji, my mouth can’t stop watering and I crave that buttery, greasy mess even more.

6) Misal Pav, Aaswad, Dadar

Misal Pav is my personal favourite and Misal Pav from Aaswad is the ultimate. There is literally nothing that matches up to the beauty of the jhan-jhanit misal with the tikhat tari and farsan. Misal Pav is just pure magic will leave you gasping for air because of the spice level and the crunchy farsan adds the perfect balance to make it every food lover’s dream.

7) Kachori, Chaar Bhujaji, Charni Road

Kachori is not everyone’s favourite but eating this one will completely blow your mind. Chaar Bhujaji has the best kachori, soft and tangy on the inside and crispy on the outside. It’s served with chutney, sev and a drizzle of dahi. Kachori is purely amazing and can help you get rid of the gloom with it’s deliciousness.

8) Jalebi, Mumbadevi Jalebiwala, Javeri Bazar

https://www.instagram.com/p/Cfne31JvriJ/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link

Jalebi is not on everyone’s list of rainy day snacks but crispy, steaming hot jalebis with masala milk is paradise. Mumbadevi Jalebiwala is a classic and has been there for years to satisfy all our sweet tooth cravings and just make it all worth it!

9) Bhutta, Carter Road

https://www.instagram.com/p/CfmcC-DBUcC/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link

Bhutta is everyone’s one true love during the rains. The charred corn kernels rubbed with lime, chilli powder and salt is fantastic to say the least. It’s almost super healthy, you can munch on it guilt free and also enjoy the flavours. Some of the best bhutta in Bombay can be found on the beaches or in Carter Road and you can enjoy them with the beautiful sea view of the city and the Bambai ki Baarish!
