What I love about the current scenario in the Hindi film industry is that it has become more vocal, accepting and evolved when it comes to representing controversial subjects. Certain issues which would have been taboo to speak about even up until a few years ago, are today discussed openly in mainstream commercial cinema. Amongst them comes Nushrratt Bharuccha‘s next Janhit Mein Jaari, and the actress proves herself yet again with the amazing trailer of the film.
Starring Nushrratt alongside Anud Singh Dhaka, Paritosh Tripathi, Vijay Raaz and an ensemble cast, Janhit Mein Jaari is a social comedy about a woman who is a condom salesperson. How her job affects her married life and her family makes for the crux of the story. It is directed by Jai Basantu Singh and produced by Raaj Shaandilyaa and Vinod Bhanushali.

The trailer shows the story of a small-town girl named Manu, played by Nushrratt, who gets a job as a salesperson in a company called Little Umbrella that sells condom. Her job lands her in some hilarious circumstances in a society that still feels embarrassed talking about protection. As she gets married, her job poses as a roadblock in her happy family life with her father-in-law, played by Vijay, being strictly against her doing the job. How she paves her way through all the difficulties makes for a hilarious yet poignant story that I can’t wait to witness on screen.
My expectations with Nushrratt had skyrocketed after Chhorii and the actress lives up to it in this trailer. She brings out her fun side in moments of comedy but she also knows when to portray her firm and strong side when she needs to take a stand. Paritosh is at his comic best and it feels good to see him get such a good role after having seen his comic potential as a TV host. Vijay is as usual a star who is just nailing his part. He is stern throughout the trailer but he knows how to bring out the desired response from his audience even without forcing it on himself. Anud is a comparatively new face in the film but his screen presence is quite strong and he has a certain charm that just appealed to me. The cast and the story are the strongest points of Janhit Mein Jaari and that comes out beautifully in the trailer.
Nushrratt’s film choices are a testament to her evolution as an actor and she is indeed choosing projects that are highlighting and exploring her potential. There couldn’t have been a better follow up to the amazing performances she gave last year in Ajeeb Daastaans and Chhorii. I am truly and highly impressed by her. Raaj’s foray into production is also seeming so on point and this trailer has just increased my curiosity to see Janhit Mein Jaari on the big screen when it releases on June 10.
