Bhumi Pednekar and Rajkummar Rao’s Badhaai Do released in theatres on February 11, and it still continues to get accolades from all over, even after its OTT release. The actress has delivered a top-notch performance in the film and the appreciation doesn’t stop still. Infact, Bhumi has completed seven years in the industry and won hearts always with her hard-hitting performance. When recently, the actress was interviewed by Shravan Shah, Entertainment Head, MissMalini, the actress admitted that it still doesn’t seep in that it’s been 7 years!
Bhumi said,
“I feel like time has flown by. Few days ago, I woke up and Instagram was flooded so I realized 7 years ago, this day, Dum Laga Ke Haisha released. I have 11 films which have released and I’ve finished shooting for 6 more. I’m about 18-19 films down that I’ve finished principal photography for. And at times I pinch myself because the girl who dreamt of living this life is actually doing it. I’m so proud of my journey as well.”
The actress gets into the depth of every character she plays but somehow makes a conscious effort to not let her profession or stardom change the person she is.
Bhumi added,
“I feel like Bhumi Pednekar – the actor, barely seeps into my life. My life is just as it was 7 years ago. I have the same set of friends. I definitely have more friends but I’ve not changed as a person at all. I consciously work towards becoming more granted and humble because I can’t take what I’ve achieved in life for granted. Having said that, my family thinks I’m psycho and slightly crack because every three months I’m this new person. That’s also got to do with the fact that if I’m shooting in a certain part of India and my character speaks a certain way so I also will speak that way. I can’t detach. I only detach when the film is over.”
I’m totally in awe of Bhumi for how wonderfully she’s carved a niche for herself with roles so different that they could have been even a risk on paper. But here she is – confident, full of talent, honesty and a drive to choose the difficult path.
In this interview, Bhumi also confessed she would love to be a part of a full on 90s kind of a romantic movie. Check out the conversation below.
