Everyone I know lives for the drama that we get from watching reality TV. What happens when hayu brings home the best of American reality TV? I tell you we’re a lot happier knowing that we have access to ad-free content to binge-watch. If you’re looking for a cooking fix the platform has shows like Top Chef, a home design fix the platform has Million Dollar Listing, and a fashion fix; you have one of my all-time favourites The Rachel Zoe Project. And let’s not forget to mention the cherry on top of those cherries; they have Keeping Up With The Kardashians, the show’s spin-offs, The Real Housewives franchise and much much more for every single kind of binge-watcher out there. And the best part about all this is, that the episodes become available the same day they do in America. So no more waiting, no more hunting for streaming portals, everything you need all housed under one roof of awesomeness.
The ladies have always been so on-point, looking so fabulous even when the drama never ends. From these empowered women, I’ve even learned a little bit about how to keep it classy when all isn’t well in paradise. We’ve seen them discuss some really hard topics and it does bring a sense of realness to the glamorous lives these ladies are living. But on a lighter note, of course, these women take fashion to the next level and I want to highlight some looks that I think would be perfect for summer. Read on for more.
Here are 7 on-point trends from The Real Housewives that we’re totes obsessed with and can’t wait to try this summer:
1) Print On Print
The ladies from The Real Housewives series really do print-on-print like pros. A classic black dress with polka dot detailing like Kyle Richards is classic and can be worn to the derby with a gorgeous fascinator or can even double up as a classic evening look with your girl gang. Erika Jayne opts for a more casual outfit, red with abstract print the buttery fabric is perfect for the summer, and the wrap front detail is to cinch the waistline and pull focus to an hourglass body frame.
2) Tie-Dye
Dorit Kemsley is my personal favourite fashionista who aces every single appearance on the show. Her attention to detail, her knowledge of fashion and what’s trending is unparalleled. I thoroughly enjoyed the gold foil she had once added to her hair at a cocktail party at Lisa Vanderpump‘s home. However, this tie-dye look is a special one because it’s one of the few times we’ve seen her take a more casual approach to fashion. Layered with gold necklaces, the oversized, breathable shirt with wide-leg trousers are perfect to beat the heat for a casual hang session with your friends.
Kyle in all-white masters the monochromatic trend, the stripe and fringe details on her wrap-around skirt are so cute, that you could wear this to a pool party and fit right in. Sutton Stracke being Sutton in a simple but fancy dress, what works for summer are those prints at play.
3) Cut-out Dresses
Less is more is every woman’s motto for summer. No one wants to be drenched in their perspiration which is why a summer dress is a must-have wardrobe item to beat the heat. Opt for cut-out dresses for added ventilation, they look glamorous and sexy. Keep it simple like Alexia Echevarria with a pop of colour or do what Kiki Barth did and spice up your look with textures like fringe and hem length. Both outfits have us craving a beach vacation, accessorise with espadrilles, oversized beach hats and wicker handbags for that luxe effect.
4) Pink
Ever since Creative Director Pierpaolo Piccioli conceived and showed the new Valentino collection at F/W 22-23 PINK has been all the rage, we’ve seen it hit high street fashion largely and a lot of people have been favouring the colour too. Noella Bergener wears a stunning sheer dress that is perfect to wear to your bestie’s wedding functions, especially if it’s a cocktail party. You could leave your hair open, opt for smokey eyes and a nude pout, a long necklace and your highest heels to make maximum impact. We can imagine the number of heads that are gonna turn in appreciation for your appearance.
5) Exaggerated Sleeves
This trend is showing no signs of slowing down or going anywhere but if you’re thinking long sleeves for the summer are impractical then think again. Take a cue from Eboni K Williams and opt for sheer exaggerated sleeves that will keep you feeling cool but looking like the diva you are. And of course, there’s nothing better than a little black dress for a night in the town with your ladies. Because black can be understated, choose statement accessories like a chunky necklace or dangly earrings, an embellished clutch and heels you can dance in all night long, that is a must for this look.
6) Floral Headscarves
Headscarves are a wonderful accessory when you haven’t had a chance to wash or style your hair. They make an effortless impact on any outfit you wear and they’re the perfect accessory to perk up any outfit because they come in a myriad of prints and pops of colours. Style them in your hair, wear them as headbands or intertwined in your braids or even tie them around your neck and a handbag for that added pizazz. Love how Noella Berger has worn her headscarf and juxtaposed it against a military-inspired jacket.
7) Animal Print & Metallics
Maternity wear is no more limited to oversized and ill-fitted clothing that doesn’t allow women to feel good about themselves. Living for how Jackie Gillies pulls out a slinky pencil dress in an animal print that screams fierce and you can’t ignore her simply because she’s a momma to be.
Metallics are all the rage right now not just in fashion but also in beauty, we’re just seeing a lot more over the top, stylish shiny clothes. Choose a V-neck, metallic jumpsuit like Simone Elliot for that retro perspective and you’re ready to rock n’ roll.
