Akshay Kumar is a true people’s superstar. As much love as he receives from his fans, he knows how to appreciate and respect that. He listens to his fans and their feedback and applies it in his work and that’s what sets him apart for me. Recently, he showed why is he loved and adored so much by his fans as he listened to their concerns and backed out from a brand endorsement deal because of audience backlash.
Akshay had been brought on board as the newest face of an elaichi brand that already has two big superstars as its faces. As soon as the first endorsement teasing his entry into the brand surfaced, the audience took to social media to voice their concerns of the actor endorsing that product. And late last night, the actor penned a note for his fans apologising to them for the same.

Akshay shared that while he will never endorse tobacco, he understands people’s concerns over his association with the brand. Apologising for taking it up, the actor informed that he is stepping back from the deal and whatever fee he has received for it, he will be donating it to a worthy cause. He also informed that while the endorsement might be aired till the legal duration of the contract, he promised to be more mindful of his choices in the future.
Being at the place that he is at in the industry and in his career, Akshay possesses the capability to control the narrative and call the shots. In such a situation, when a star like him listens to his fans’ concern and acts on it so instantaneously, it just makes me proud of having stars like these amongst us. The Khiladi proved yet again why is he the people’s hero and now I am just waiting to see more of him on screen with his upcoming films like Prithviraj, Ram Setu, Gorkha, OMG 2, Raksha Bandhan, Selfiee and Bade Miyan Chote Miyan.
