Urfi Javed’s fashion sense is the most talked-about in town lately but what’s surprising is the fact that Urfi has been stitching her own clothes ever since she started growing up. I was left impressed when Urfi recently confessed that in a conversation with Shravan Shah, Entertainment Head, MissMalini.
Urfi said,
“I had many dreams, I was a very creative person as a child. I wanted to wear a certain kind of clothes which I didn’t find anywhere and nobody was making them, so I started stitching my own clothes. I wanted to be a fashion designer, but more than that, I always wanted to be an actor.”
The actress started off with auditioning for Television but confessed that she didn’t really get any respect on the medium.
She confessed,
“Television never gave me respect. I was told, I’m too fair or I don’t look Indian. Indian television main leads look innocent and I never fit the bill so I got only side roles. I have seen verified television actors commenting bad things on pictures. We have common friends and you’re still hating me because I’m wearing the kind of clothes that I want to wear?”
While she comes across as bold, Urfi has a softer side to her. She is all heart and also extremely vulnerable. She does have a larger goal in life with a few regrets too, as she looks back in retrospect.
Urfi expressed,
“A lot of people have taken advantage of me and I couldn’t say no, be it when it came to money or anything. I’ve taken sh*t from a lot of people, so, I regret doing a lot of things. I regret doing a lot of shows for money. But, I want everyone to recognize me. I want to reach that level where I say something and people hear it. I want my voice to be heard and want to do something for the betterment of people or use my voice for the right thing.”
Urfi’s confidence and strength is impressive and definitely something that stays with you. You can see the full interview here.
