Urfi Javed has become a household name now, owing to the fashion statements made by her. She’s definitely not someone you can ignore but it’s so heartwarming to see the Urfi’s vulnerable side behind her bold image. Recently, she got into an exclusive conversation with Shravan Shah, Entertainment Head, MissMalini where she opened up extensively about herself and her family.

Urfi confessed that her family was never supportive of her becoming an actress.

She said,

“I was always interested in acting, singing, dancing but I knew my family won’t allow me. They were not very accepting of these careers. They thought I’ll just be a housewife. I never told anyone what I wanted to be but somewhere everyone had an idea. Then, I don’t know where I got the strength from but one day I decided to leave my house when I was seventeen, with my sister to pursue my dream. It wasn’t just an overnight decision but it took me years of mental trauma, physical trauma, toxic environment. I had two options, either to go pursue my dream or commit suicide. So, I thought, might as well give life a chance.”

She further got emotional and added that it’s not been easy for her.

She added,

“I would the 15-year old Urfi to just calm down. It was not easy for me. I used to hurt myself, cut myself. Today I would tell myself, ‘don’t listen to anyone, you’re worthy’. People around me made me feel like sh*t, my father especially. I like myself now, I hated myself earlier but I realised that it had to happen to me to mould me into the person I am today. If I had   success earlier, I would have become arrogant. Thank God I got it late.”

Clearly, Urfi has come a long way and it’s amazing how the girl carries herself with so much confidence now always, although, internally she’s always nervous.
