Being healthy should be a lifestyle change. It is essential and should be taken seriously. Living in a time with a virus constantly creates a sense of fear, taking care of ourselves and making our health a priority has become mandatory. We all have been forced to eat and drink things that we aren’t quite fond of mainly because of health benefits. But I would gladly down a glass of karela juice once a week than have to pop pills every day. It’s something my general physician told me once that stayed with me—take care of yourself and eat a few things you don’t like and make a few changes that are tough unless you want to be facing the heat of negligence and popping pills you don’t like every single day. Living by that trusty saying, we bring to you a list of things that you should incorporate into your daily diet to keep you happy, healthy, fit and fine.
1) Nuts
You should be nuts about nuts and for a good reason! They provide plant-based protein and help improve overall health and lead to a reduction in heart disease and promote healthy weight. They are rich in antioxidants that promote overall health and improve your physical well-being.
2) Coloured Vegetables
No matter which meal you’re eating, never skip veggies on your plate. They add so much colour and crunch to the food and make it look delicious and also add the much-needed vitamins, minerals and antioxidants. Bell Peppers, purple cabbage, beetroot, radish, and tomatoes are all delicious and only boost your health.
3) Berries
Berries can make your mouth water. They taste just as amazing as they taste and are loaded with health benefits. They are rich in vitamin C and have an array of many antioxidants that make them perfect to snack on or just use as a garnish with cereal or oats. They are tangy, sweet and delicious that will only enrich your overall health.
4) Greens
Greens should be on your menu every single day and in every form. From salads to smoothies to sprouts, however, it pleases you. They are rich in vitamin B and K and are good for your eyes and blood and improve your overall health and well-being, keeping you fresh and serving you a wholesome meal.
5) Yoghurt
Yoghurt is my favourite snack and it is so cooling. Rich in minerals and vitamins. You can have a side of plain yoghurt with almost every meal. Add your flavouring to it, add fruits, garlic, salt, honey—however you like it and enjoy. Eat it as a dip, as a snack, as a side and it is only going to keep you cool and is so delicious and also improves your gut health.
6) Chia Seeds
Chia Seeds are packed with Omega 3 Fatty Acids and Fibre. They are very good for your heart, and gut health cools your body and gets rid of excessive heat. They also help improve blood sugar levels, improve digestion and keep your heart healthy.
7) Dark Chocolate
Who doesn’t crave something sweet? We all need a dose of sweetness in our lives and dark chocolate will do it for you. It is known to improve blood sugar levels, and blood vessel control and is one of the highest food sources of antioxidants.
