‘Any Sort Of Competition With The Peers Pushes Me To Do Better’ : Rakulpreet Singh

I’m blown away by the trailer of Runway 34 for its visual appeal in the trailer itself and of course the film’s stellar cast. It’s so amazing to see Rakulpreet Singh share screen-space with Amitabh Bachchan and with Ajay Devgn for the second time. This time, she’s also being directed by him. On the other hand, her film Attack, with John Abraham and Jacqueline Fernandez has just released today. Recently, Rakul had an interesting Clubhouse chat with our boss lady, Malini Agarwal and gave insights into various aspects of her personality.

When asked how she manages to be so secure amidst so much competition, Rakul said that the feeling of security doesn’t come overnight. It’s what one grows up with.

Rakul said,

“That’s something which you grow up with. There’s no formula to not being insecure or the way you look at competition. These are values that you grow up with or a certain mindset which you that you’re conditioned to, from your childhood. It’s not something I’ve consciously worked upon now. Life’s really simple and people complicate life. I’m of the opinion that the smoother you want to sail through this journey, the less complicated you need to make it. I think it’s important to be in touch with your reality is and treat your work as an extension of you and not who you are. Then, I think it’s just easier. I act for a living but that’s not who I am. That’s not what I sleep with. I’m a girl who has normal dreams, desires, aspirations that I work towards when on set. I like to disconnect after that. As far as competition is concered, any sort of competition with the peers pushes me to do better. It accelerates the hunger inside me even more. If you view competition in the right stride, it just pushes you to do better.”

While she has some amazing Hindi movies lined up ahead, what’s amazing is that she’s done some incredible work even in Tamil and Telugu cinema. The actress knows many languages.

She added,

“I speak four languages properly – It’s Hindi, English, Telugu and Punjabi that I speak properly and then Tamil I understand but it’s still broken. It’s not as smooth but I can survive in Tamil Nadu (laughs)”.

Now with talent like that, I’m sure Rakul wouldn’t be insecure and has a long way to go! Runway 34 is set to release on April 29. You can hear this whole conversation on MissMalini’s channel on Clubhouse.
