Indian cinema has been taking big strides in the recent years when it comes to the VFX in its projects and telling of superhuman stories, and I have been loving it. There are a lot of superhero movies that are currently in the offing in Hindi cinema, and amongst them comes John Abraham-starrer Attack: Part 1, which isn’t a superhero film per say, but it does give Hindi cinema it’s first super soldier. The teaser of the film already had me hooked, but now the trailer that released today has just taken that excitement several notches up.
Check out the trailer here:
Also featuring Jaqueline Fernandez and Rakul Preet Singh in the lead, Attack shows John as a scientifically enhanced soldier who is responsible to protect the nation from the attacks it is under. While Jacqueline plays his romantic interest in the film, Rakul is the brain behind the super soldier program, and I must admit that the concept is pulled off quite convincingly as per what the trailer suggests.
The gunshots make for the perfect background music for all the action happening on the screen and I don’t think anyone else could have justified the role of a super soldier like John does. He is indeed the perfect choice for it, and it does seem to be his show completely. The actor not only shows exemplary action skills in the trailer but also a range of emotions and it feels good to see the growth John has shown as an actor. While there isn’t much revealed about Jacqueline, Rakul and the story in the trailer, but that is what has increased my curiosity for the film.
Attack offers India its first super soldier and I must admit that the final outcome seems to be turning out to be a hundred times better than what I had expected it to be, and my expectations were pretty high to begin with. It is directed by Lakshya Raj Anand, who has also co-written it with Sumit Batheja and Vishal Kapoor, and is produced by John, Jayantilal Gada and Ajay Kapoor. The film is already being spun into a franchise with Attack: Part 1 releasing in theatres on April 1, 2022.
As a cinema nerd and Bollywood lover, it feels so great for me to see Indian cinema growing and evolving this way. We’ve had our hits and misses when it has come to such stories, but things seem to be heading to a much better direction now with Attack being the first step towards it and I can’t wait to witness this marvel in theatres.
