Women have struggled for gender equality and equal rights for a long time but wait no more as a lot of them have gone beyond these suppressions. On the occasion of ‘International Women’s Day’ let’s talk about all things empowering, motivating and womanhood related, with the super entrepreneurial, Malvika Sitlani Aryan. She very recently started her own brand named ‘MASIC Beauty‘ and we got a chance to ask her a few questions about her journey as a women entrepreneur and the different challenges she faced. Scroll down to find out what she has to say…
1. On the occasion of Women’s Day, tell us who and what inspired you to start your own brand ‘MASIC Beauty’?
In 2020, MASIC Beauty was nothing but an idea I had during the lockdown. My then manager and I observed a gap in the beauty market, especially in India where consumers really wanted the complete experience of a luxury product, but at a budget-friendly price. We would constantly read comments about this across my content, and that is what sparked the initial conversations about building a brand that is right at the intersection of high quality and accessible pricing. I wanted MASIC to be a brand woven into everyone’s life, not just their skin care or beauty routine, which is why we have three sections: Home, Beauty, Bath & Body.
2. What challenges did you face at the beginning of your journey as a female entrepreneur?
Being an entrepreneur so soon was not in the cards for me, I definitely wanted to wait a few years but the lockdown gave me ample time to create my brand. I had to learn everything from scratch. From creating brand language to operations to hiring, it was all so new to me! But having a solid team definitely helped me along the way.
3. Do you think women’s entrepreneurship is the need of the hour in a male dominating society?
I think it’s great that so many women are now understanding the need to build something just for themselves. Building your own company builds resilience and eventually gives you financial freedom if done right. I’m so proud of all the women out there trying to make a mark in the world. This is NOT easy. Women are capable of such greatness, they just need to unleash and be fearless.
4. What advice would you give another woman trying to start her own business?
First, you must be prepared for failure & loss. This journey takes a lot out of you but if you hold on, you will reap the fruits and it will be sweet!
Second, have enough savings so that you don’t have to depend on anyone else before you begin your entrepreneurial journey.
Third, hire a SOLID team. They will be your backbone to building the company.
5. How do you define success especially after being a successful entrepreneur?
I would hardly call myself a successful entrepreneur at this stage, it’s only been a few months & I think there’s a lot that I haven’t seen yet. What I can say is that I’m learning a lot on the way & my team is a huge part of the brands’ success. If you can get a product out and, on its timeline, I would call that successful.
6. What have you enjoyed the most about starting your own company?
The product development process to me is the most exciting part of building the brand. I’m very much involved in each aspect of the designing process & then to see it come alive is exhilarating! Also, building the team with my co-founder Veronica is fun!
7. What’s that one thing that always keeps you motivated to strive better?
I have some low days but my co-founder, Veronica is with me every step of the way & she motivates me on a different level. She truly gets me and that’s why we make such a great team! Also, my loyal audience of 7 years, my “hype gang” celebrate MASIC beauty as much as me and show their love during each launch. 🚀
8. Tell us a quirky fact about you that no one knows yet?
I can write backwards. It’s quite a strange skill but I can do it really well.
9. On that note, tell us what are you currently working on at MASIC Beauty!
I’m currently working to bring out the first product under MASIC’s beauty line! If you’ve been following me for a while you can guess what it’s going to be haha!
Lastly, here’s what Malvika has to say,
The learning curve while building a company is beyond imaginable! I hope that MASIC beauty becomes a part of everyone’s life.
Along with being a successful entrepreneur, she is also a beauty influencer and we love how she manages both of them so efficiently. Tbh, we have been loving her new series where she gives makeup tips for beginners. Her videos are literally so personal as if she’s talking to us one on one. Here’s to Mals always spreading progression over perfection. Also, let’s just not celebrate Women’s day just today but every single day of our lives. ‘Cause where there is a woman, there is magic.
On a side note, we hope you’re taking care of yourselves and staying safe. Also, follow @missmalinitrending to get more information about your fave influencers and creators.
