It’s always nice when films make you feel nostalgic and take you back in time to events which you can relate to. Which explains why, Jugaadistan directed by Akarsh Khurana and Adhaar Khurana looks very interesting at the moment. It has an ensemble cast of Sumeet Vyas, Arjun Mathur, Parambrata Chatterjee, Ruksar Dhillon, Taaruk Raina, Gopal Datt and Ahsaas Channa among others. College politicians, professors who make the students go weak in their knees and youngsters trying to find their own path – doesn’t all this feel familiar and relatable? Here’s hoping the series would be even more relatable.
Talking about the show, director Akarsh Khurrana says,
“As a filmmaker and storyteller, you are always looking to push the envelope and challenge yourself. I wanted to do just that when this presented itself. While I have done youth centric, college stuff before, this was like a different take on it. Like the darker side of our college years, and Delhi like we don’t see often. We delve into an array of issues – college politics, student dynamics, side incomes – all of which are significant in how people’s lives are shaped in their formative years. After all, college is the beginning of the rest of your adult life. The decisions we take then usually have far reaching consequences. I also really enjoyed the track of investigative journalism and the quest for the truth that runs parallel to all the student shenanigans.”
That does sound interesting and Jugaadistan might just certainly remind many of us of the jugaad we’ve done in our college lives, isn’t it? Akarsh is known for his earlier work like Rashmi Rocket starring Taapsee Pannu and Mismatched with Prajakta Kohli and Rohit Saraf. Looking forward to what the director has to offer this time around as he directs this with Adhaar Khurana. Jugaadistan is set to start streaming from March 4 onwards.
