The big announcement of Akshay Kumar and Tiger Shroff teaming up for an action-comedy has come in and I’m super excited for these two biggest action stars of the country to unite. Titled Bade Miyan Chote Miyan, this one promises to be bigger and better when it comes to action and it will release in 5 languages. It also brings in a bit of nostalgia because the title track of the earlier Bade Miyan Chote Miyan starring Amitabh Bachchan and Govinda is heard in the new announcement too. This one continues to remain memorable over the years.
Today two-hero films in Hindi cinema are less but we’ve had some iconic movies which have celebrated bromance. In the 70s and 80s, major big films were made with two heroes, and that trend also continued in the 90s. In the last few years, that trend is picking up again. So, it’s absolutely amazing news when you hear of more such films being made. I also felt, it was commendable for Rohit Shetty to bring together 3 stars – Akshay Kumar, Ajay Devgn and Ranveer Singh in Sooryavanshi, even if it wasn’t for the whole film. We need more of this bromance, don’t we?
So, here’s looking at 6 other two-hero films of recent times which have won hearts.
WAR
The WAR hangover continues to remain still, and this Hrithik Roshan-Tiger Shroff starrer was a treat indeed. From its story to the larger-than-life visual appeal and seeing these actors pull off some action and dance together provided for an amazing theatre experience in itself. Even though, it’s released in recent times, I’d still call it iconic because this Siddharth Anand film will be remembered for years to come, I’m sure. It did phenomenal box-office business too.
Gunday
Gunday has its own appeal among the masses and people have immensely loved Arjun Kapoor and Ranveer Singh’s bromance on-screen and off-screen too. This Ali Abbas Zafar directorial, took us back to those larger-than-life, quintessential two-hero films of the 70s and 80s and it was entertaining in every bit. Gunday was also a commercial success.
Good Newwz
This was quite a unique ensemble – Akshay alongside the superstar of Punjabi cinema, Diljit Dosanjh. The film was high on comic timing from all the actors, great dialogues and lots of entertainment. Both the heroes fit their part so well and overall Raj Mehta did complete justice with this story and ensemble. I’ve loved Good Newwz.
Mujhse Shadi Karogi
Salman Khan and Akshay Kumar coming together for a love triangle of sort, in the quest to win over Priyanka Chopra was a one of its kind casting coup. The film had lots of funny moments, great songs and entertainment. It’s always nice to watch this film on TV even today.
Dostana
Abhishek Bachchan and John Abraham could give any romance a run for their money with their bromance! The actors were brilliant with their comic timing and performances in the film and Dostana definitely is one of the landmark two-hero films in Bollywood.
Partner
Salman Khan and Govinda in a David Dhawan film – now this is certainly an epic combination and Partner was full on entertainment. Their two actor’s chemistry with each other, the dialogues and of course Dhawan’s signature touch with good music – makes Partner so much fun even in repeated watches.
All the above mentioned movies and several iconic movies even from the 70s and 80s have proven that two-hero movies are definitely a win, if the story does justice to the actors. It’s a double treat indeed for the audience. Which explains why, there’s so much excitement ever since Bade Miyan Chote Miyan has been announced. I’m so looking forward and hoping it lives up to all the expectations.
