Being a ’90s kid, I have grown up watching Madhuri Dixit Nene steal the show in every project she had been a part of. I have admired her from afar and then when I joined the industry, from a little bit closer, and my respect and admiration for her only grew. So, when it was announced that she was going to make her OTT debut with Karan Johar‘s Dharmatic Entertainment, in a web series titled The Fame Game, I was invested in it from the word go. And the trailer of the show released today does full justice to that excitement.
Check out the trailer here:
The trailer opens with superstar Anamika Anand, Madhuri’s character, walking down the red carpet and talking about her family and the perfect life she leads. But as it progresses, you uncover the ugly truth behind all the stardom as she goes missing. Madhuri still has that spark and presence on screen that she has always possessed, and every frame that she is in, just lights up because of her. She showcases a wide range of emotions from loving, caring, angry to frustrated, with each being as heartfelt and distinct as ever. Seeing her dance is one of the highlights for me, and she has received the grandeur that she deserves. I can’t help but be in awe of her whenever she grooves.
The trailer also highlights the strained relationships in her personal life with her husband played by her Raja co-star Sanjay Kapoor, her kids played by Lakshvir Saran and Muskkaan Jaferi and her frequent co-star, played by Manav Kaul, with whom her relationship goes beyond friendship. The story keeps you hooked as all of these people strive to find the missing Anamika, with each having a secret of their own, while Anamika questions who she actually is.
The Fame Game is created by Sri Rao and directed by Bejoy Nambiar and Karishma Kohli. The suspense thriller starts streaming on Netflix from February 25.
As much as I am excited to see Madhuri enter this new phase of her career and witness her chemistry with Sanjay again, I am also much more intrigued to uncover the whole story after seeing this trailer. I am certain this will be a must-watch.
