The internet is on fire with the songs of Pushpa : The Rise and I personally, just cannot get Srivalli out of my head. This just goes on to say so much about the connect that music has with us. Despite the fact that a large section of the audience in different parts of the country, may not understand the language, there are songs which have still won hearts and have trended!
Take a look at some songs from the south which have been so popular.
The songs from ‘Pushpa’
Be it Sami Sami or Srivalli or Oo antavama – every second reel that I see on Instagram has people grooving to one of these songs. Composer Devi Sri Prasad has done such a fabulous job on the music of Pushpa. While Sami Sami and Oantavamama have foot-tapping beats, people have also connected to the soulfulness of Srivalli. Not to mention, the hook steps and how well the actors – Allu Arjun, Rashmika Mandanna and Samantha Ruth Prabhu have performed to these.
Rowdy Baby
Rowdy Baby from Maari 2 featuring Dhanush and Sai Pallavi is another song which has been so popular. Composed by Yuvan Shankar Raja, it’s also picturised so beautifully. Dhanush and Pallavi are a treat to watch in this one. Check this out, if you still haven’t and you’d agree with me.
Entamedde Jimmki Kammal
This song from Mohanlal-starrer Velipadinte Pusthakam composed by Shaan Rahman became an instant hit when it released in August 2017 and soon we began to see dance covers of these all over Youtube and Facebook. It’s a earworm indeed.
Buttabomma
Another song with Allu in the lead, Buttabomma is so popular and for the right reasons. This one from Arjun’s Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo sees the actor along with Pooja Hegde and the chemistry between the two is hard to miss. I bet you would fall in love with the song even if you hear it for the first time. It’s sung by Armaan Malik and composed by S. Thaman.
Saranga Dariya
Sai Pallavi is so adorable in Saranga Dariya that you have to witness it. The song is from Love Story which stars Naga Chaitanya alongside Pallavi. The music of the film was composed by Pawan Ch and this song certainly is worth all the hype around it. Check it out.
Snehithane
Alaipayuthey starring R. Madhavan and Shalini released in 2000 and the Hindi remake of it, Saathiya came in 2002. Snehithane was so well-received then, but somehow, the song has gained momentum again in recent times and is oh-so-popular on reels. Infact, it’s loved even more than the Hindi version, Chupke Se with Rani Mukherji and Vivek Oberoi. Tell me you love the Tamil version more too?
Inkem Inkem
Inkem Inkem from Geetha Govindam starring Vijay Deverakonda and Rashmika Mandanna is something you can hear on repeat. Composed by Gopi, the song is beautiful and the picturisation is equally amazing. I love the chemistry between these two actors in this and it’s so well-made overall.
I’m amazed to see all these songs do so well and the language not being a barrier in good music to be accepted. I am waiting for many more such songs to be trending!
