Here’s some good news that cinemas in Delhi are set to re-open, albeit with 50 percent capacity, and we can now expect many movie release announcements lined up. A few days back, I did an article on movies to look forward to in the month of February and March and here’s the big addition to that list. Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Gangubai Kathiawadi will see a release on February 25 and this certainly spreads hope and happiness within the industry.
Check out Alia Bhatt’s unique way of making this announcement here.
February had just one release so far – Badhaai Do, which was announced a few days ago and this big announcement is now making me look forward to the coming month even more.
Talking about it, Trade Analyst Taran Adarsh says,
“It’s a big development. There have been a few announcements last week too, so it’s exciting. There is Badhaai Do releasing in February, but it isn’t a big film as such . It’s a mid-range film. But now we have Sanjay Leela Bhansali, being brave and saying, ‘I’m coming!’ That’s a step in the right direction in the industry, it gives a lot of confidence and faith. People were waiting for the cinemas in Delhi to reopen too. Everything isn’t normal yet, but we will have to adjust to the current scenario I guess.”
Interestingly, Jayantilal Gada has three other releases like Shahid Kapoor starrer Jersey, Attack with John Abraham and RRR lined up apart from Gangubai Kathiawadi and according to Adarsh, Gada would try that all these films don’t clash or eat into each other’s business. One can expect to have a clear picture about many movie release dates within a fortnight.
The movie-buff in me is excited with this news and I’m sure many of you are similarly opinionated. If things go well, one can soon expect the movie business to see an all-time rise again if great content is being served to the audience.
