Dhanush has received immense appreciation for Atrangi Re and totally lived up to the expectations that his previous work created. I loved the simplicity and charm in his performance without trying too hard. I saw myself completely rooting for Vishu as the film progressed. He is animated in parts and subtle in the other and it’s commendable how he can pull off both.
While Rinku (Sara Ali Khan) was the soul of the film, Dhanush was one of the strong reasons for me to like the film. This song does give a glimpse of his brilliant performance.
Now I hear, Dhanush has teamed up again with film-maker Anand L. Rai for an action love story. This would be their third collaboration together post Raanjhanaa and Atrangi Re.
Talking of Raanjhanaa, which was Dhanush’s debut film and the south-star completely owned it. He was much appreciated for pulling off a complex character, that of an obsessive lover, Kundan. Interestingly, with his performance and the praise for it, Dhanush completely broke stereotypes surrounding the ‘Quintessential Hindi Cinema Hero’.
His next Shamitabh showed him in a different light all-together and I just cannot get over the curve of his character in the film. From playing a mute vulnerable guy, to turning into this arrogant superstar – he holded himself so well alongside the legend that Amitabh Bachchan is, in this R. Balki movie. Even though the film may not have met expectations at the box-office, I felt it was such a deep film with layers and Dhanush was well-appreciated.
While we’ve not seen more of Dhanush despite the success of his debut film, he’s always gotten unanimous appreciation every time he’s come on-screen and that’s the beauty of the actor we’ve seen. Apart from this action love story with Anand L. Rai, Dhanush also has signed another film with a big banner, the details of which haven’t been revealed yet.
But all I can say is, many of us are waiting to see more of him so this is just great news, isn’t it?
