The “off-duty model style” has risen to fame in today’s day and age and doesn’t seem like it’ll be going down any time soon. Now, who wouldn’t love to look like a model? It might sound like this kind of style could burn a hole in your pocket, but it’s quite the opposite! Most of the items that you need to obtain this style are probably already in your closet. Achieving the model-off-duty look is basically based on keeping it simple, effortless, chic and sophisticated. This means mainly using clothing basics with a few statement pieces. Here are some tips on how to ace this style flawlessly. I for sure follow them religiously!
Let’s have a look, shall we?
1. Keep It Simple
The number one rule of thumb that most models follow is to keep it classic and simple. Now when I say simple, I mean sticking to the basics and toying with neutrals. These pieces are extremely versatile and can be dressed up or down easily. When in doubt, I always go for all black! Many models have been seen adorning these extremely chic all-black get-ups and that just gives me more motivation to rock that look as well. Choosing simple items for that off-duty look also means you can get ready quickly, look stylish and still remain super comfortable.
2. Add A Statement Piece
Adding a statement piece is a great way to make any style unique and stand out. These statement pieces allow you to have the perfect balance between that effortless vibe and a fashionable look. Whether it’s a structured bag, statement jewellery, or even a bright and colourful jacket they all manage to perfectly lift up a minimal outfit by jazzing it up and giving it some life. Another hack that I’m guilty of taking advantage of is adding accessories such as sunglasses, hoop earrings or a fancy watch to all my looks.
3. Fancy Footwear
A pair of classic sneakers or some stilettoes never fails to spice up an outfit. If you want to go for a laid back look; a pair of sneakers, which are quite the trend among stars nowadays, work flawlessly. You can wear them with dresses, pants, suits and just about anything! They’re definitely a life saviour for someone like me who prefers comfort over everything. Now if you want to look dressy but still wear your comfy clothes, heels are your best friend. Even if it’s a basic outfit like blue baggy denim with a black bodysuit, adding a pair of heels can instantly elevate the style quotient of the look.
4. Oversized Shirts And Blazers
Oversized shirts and blazers are one of the main staples in an off-duty model’s wardrobe. If they’re a staple for them, they’re a staple for me! Oversized shirts can be worn as dresses, with straight cut jeans or even act as a great piece for layering. We love a multi-purpose article, who wouldn’t? A blazer allows you to add some structure to your outfits and give off that boss lady vibe. Just throw on an oversized blazer with a white tank top, some jeans and sneakers and you have the perfect off duty model look! I personally love wearing both these pieces and adding a pair of sneakers or heels depending on the vibe. Easy and effortless!
5. Athleisure Wear
Athleisure wear like leggings and sports bra sets, two-piece sweatsuits, or biker shorts sets are all the rage now. That “after-gym” look is quite a popular style among models nowadays. Now for lazy people like myself, these outfits are perfect for running errands or even just a quick coffee run. All you have to do is slip on a set and you have a super cute yet, comfy outfit ready in no time! You could even dress up a legging set by adding a blazer giving the look some structure and making it sophisticated.
