Biopics and films based on famous personalities’ lives have become quite a success formula in the Hindi film industry, especially in the recent years. These films offer you a relatable and known story to root for while also uncovering many unknown facts that the audience is eager to unravel. Even I have loved seeing some amazing personalities come to life on screen in films like MS Dhoni: The Untold Story, Saina, Neerja, The Dirty Picture and the most recent ’83. And now comedian Kapil Sharma is the latest addition to this esteemed list of personalities that have had their life depicted on the celluloid.
Producer Mahaveer Jain has announced a delightful film on the life of actor-comedian Kapil, which is titled FUNKAAR and is backed by Lyca Productions. The film will be directed by Fukrey fame Mrighdeep Singh Lamba and presented by Subaskaran.
Mrighdeep, who is currently working on Fukrey 3, said,
“Looking forward to bring to the audience, the story of India’s most beloved FUNKAAR, Kapil Sharma”.
Producer Mahaveer Jain added,
“Billions of people get their daily dose of dopamine, courtesy Kapil Sharma. We all need love, life and laughter. We are proud to present comedy super star Kapil Sharma’s untold story on big screen, in a big way.”
FUNKAAR adds to the long and esteemed list of upcoming collaborations between Lyca Productions and Jain, which also includes Akshay Kumar’s Ram Setu, a special film Mann Bairagi with Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Janhvi Kapoor-starrer Good Luck Jerry with Anand L Rai and a biopic on the chess Grandmaster Vishwanathan Anand, amongst others.
Kapil has been the reason behind millions of smiles in the country every weekend, and it excites me to be getting the opportunity to witness the making behind this man on the celluloid. Since it’s a film on Kapil, I am rest assured that it is indeed going to offer me a lot of smiles.
