Pakistani star Humayun Saeed has been a prominent name in the entertainment arena. The actor has done some great shows and films, in fact, I remember how impressed I was watching his film, Bin Roye, with Mahira Khan. Some other acclaimed films of Humayun include the 2015 adventure-comedy called Jawaani Phir Nahi Ani and 2019’s Project Ghazi. And looks like things are only getting bigger for Humayun now as he is all set to star in the Netflix series The Crown‘s season 5. According to reports on Variety.com, Humayun will be playing the role of Princess Diana‘s boyfriend Dr. Hasnat Khan.
According to the reports in Variety, Humayun will essay the role of the heart surgeon who claimed to have been in a relationship with Princess Diana between 1995-1997. Sharing more details about, Dr. Khan the reports state that the British Pakistani heart surgeon practiced at London’s Royal Brompton Hospital. In a statement given to the police in 2008, Dr. Khan had said that he had considered a life with Princess Diana but her situation with the press had made it inadmissible.
From the time these reports about Humayun surfaced online, fans have had a mixed reaction. While many lauded the casting, others asked why wasn’t Fawad Khan considered for the role. What I always liked about The Crown is how it changes its cast every two seasons to show the lapse in time of the royal family. In 2021, the show has won seven Emmy Awards.
I am totally excited about season 5, for, it will be following the royal family’s lives through 1990 and will focus on the most interesting aspects of Princess Diana’s life. Actress Elizabeth Debicki will play the role of Princess Diana, while actor Khalid Abdalla will play the role of Dodi Fayed. Season 5 is expected to premiere in November this year and I am totally looking forward to it.
