Six years ago, I saw a masterpiece in Indian cinema, titled Baahubali. The film not only set new benchmarks critically and commercially, but it also gave a new pan-India superstar to the country in the form of Prabhas. Since then, the actor has enjoyed supremacy across industries and is one of the most sought-after actors out there across India. He made his entry into Hindi cinema with the pan-Indian film Saaho, but now he is here to strengthen his place with multiple exciting projects in the pipeline.
Prabhas currently has five projects in hand, including Radhe Shyam, Adipurush, Salaar, Project K and Spirit. Three of these five films are produced by Bhushan Kumar and in a conversation with Pinkvilla, the producer spoke about them.
Spirit is directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, who has previously helmed the blockbuster Kabir Singh for Bhushan. The film is expected to go on floors in 2023 and while talking about it, Bhushan gave a major update.
He said:
“Sandeep Reddy Vanga made Kabir Singh and he knows the North Indian sensibilities. Spirit is a long way, but it will be a great film. Prabhas is playing cop for the first time in it.”
Speaking about his leading man, Bhushan insisted:
“Prabhas is a Pan India actor and obviously, as a producer I want to work on films which are Pan India. Saaho didn’t do the kind of business (that was expected). But his lowest business was also a hit business of Hindi movies.”
Talking about Adipurush, Bhushan shared:
“Adipurush is tailormade for Prabhas. He will be seen as Lord Ram in it and he has done a fabulous job. It’s our most awaited film and we are expecting to release it in 2022. It is Ramayana and will be a different visual treat for the audience.”
Prabhas’s intensity and hold over the camera is something that I have always admired and it just makes me more curious to see how the actor will take the Hindi film screen by storm too with a line up like this. Bollywood and cops have had an age-old relation and it will be exciting to see what flavor Prabhas’ cop will bring to it.
