Milan Luthria is known for reinventing the careers of superstars, like Ajay Devgn with Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai and Vidya Balan with The Dirty Picture, that also bagged her a National Award. His films always have a connect with the audience and that is what I admire the most about his work. But success isn’t permanent, and after these two amazing films, even Milan had to face a step down with his next two releases—Once Upon Ay Time In Mumbai Dobaara! and Baadshaho. Today, he came up with the Ahan Shetty and Tara Sutaria’s Tadap, but before that he reflects on the past a bit.
Talking about his last two films, Milan says:
“We had a few problems with our last two films. There were some release date issues with them. But Sajid (Nadiadwala) bhai told me that Tendulkar also gets out at zero at times. So, he just told me to focus on my work. I also left the baggage behind as I do once any film is over. Hits and flops are a part of any filmmaker’s life. Some will do well and some won’t. Fortunately, we didn’t have a disaster at hand.”
But having tasted big successes already before, Milan must have that zeal to prove himself yet again and reclaim the top spot with Tadap. Mention that to him and he agrees.
He says:
“Yes, there is a hunger to prove and to feel good about a product. To get the full support of my team and get a full-planned release, which was an issue in my last two films.”
Tadap seems to fit right in the genre of films that Milan is known for—intense love stories marred with a dark background and it’s honestly good to see the filmmaker get back to the screen and spread his magic all over again. I have always admired Milan’s vision on screen and going by the trailer of Tadap, I am sure that the maker has created that same magnificence yet again with it.
