There’s no doubt that wedding’s in India is a big deal. But when two of Bollywood’s most beloved stars come together in a matrimonial union you can believe me when I tell you it is the event of the year. Because of all the mystery surrounding the wedding, most people wanted to see it to believe and lo and behold, our wishes have been granted. Last night Vicky Kaushal and Katrina Kaif, both took to Instagram to announce their happy union. And of course, the internet was over the moon. The stories and reels about how we can finally sleep peacefully knowing that they are married are all too real!
And before I go into details about their wedding outfits, I want to take a moment to appreciate their gorgeous wedding venue, the lavish Six Senses Fort in Bawara; a resort in Sawai Madhopur. This gorgeous getaway in Rajasthan is a 3-hour drive from Jaipur and a 30-minute drive from Ranthambore National Park. Mr and Mrs Kaushal have set the tone for wedding season, scroll on to read about their outfits now.
Let’s take a closer look at what Katrina Kaif wore:
I don’t know why but I thought Katrina would opt for an unconventional colour, a pastel shade that would highlight the glow in her cheeks. Not to say that she looked any less radiant in her all-red Sabyasachi lehenga, of course, she looked absolutely gorgeous. Her bridal lehenga is hand-woven Matka silk, with fine tilla work and embroidered gold zardozi borders in velvet. To pay homage to her husband’s Punjabi roots, she had her veil custom-made with handmade kiran in hand-beaten silver electroplated in gold. Isn’t that just the most precious thing you’ve heard?
The bride paired her lehenga with a statement, bespoke bridal jewellery of an uncut diamond necklace with hand-strung pearls in 22K gold, an ever-so-stylish, dual matha patti, jhumkas, chunky gold bangles, a gold nath with pearl beads all from Sabyasachi Jewellery. And of course, no celebrity bridal look these days is complete without custom-made kaliras from Kaliras by Mrinalini Chandra and Raabta by Rahul. Simplistic, dewy makeup, white flowers pinned neatly to her bun with her sheer dupatta draped over it and her red bindi complete her look. But let’s not forget that spectacular, big blue; sapphire engagement ring from Tiffany that cost a whopping Rs. 7.4 lakh rupees completes her look.
Let’s take a closer look at what Vicky Kaushal wore:
We already got a few sneaky views of his ivory & gold sherwani from his car but let’s talk about it some more, shall we? This debonair boy wore a silk sherwani with intricate Marori embroidery and iconic Sabyasachi handcrafted, gold-plated Bengal Tiger buttons with a silk kurta and churidar. He styled it with a draped, tussar (made from silkworms that breed on wild forest trees) georgette shawl, with a zari, Marori embroidered borders.
The actor completed his regal look with a Benarasi silk, tissue safa that came with a handcrafted kilangi (a safa brooch). What I loved about his look though was his statement, emerald-studded necklace with rose-cut diamonds, quartz and tourmalines in 18k gold from Sabyasachi Heritage Jewellery. They definitely look like one royal couple having tied the knot at an old fort and all too! The stuff of fairytales, ya’ll!
Katrina was styled by celebrity stylist Anaita Shroff Adajania. Her hairstylist and makeup artist was Amit Thakur and Daniel Bauer respectively. Her draping was done by Dolly Jain. Kudos to the dream team!
