Beautiful pictures of Rajkummar Rao and his bride Patralekhaa have flooded the internet since last night and I cannot stop looking at them. However, here’s another piece of news that has surfaced. Rajkummar Rao and Bhumi Pednekar had closed the month of October with the announcement of the release date for their first collaboration together, Badhaai Do, booking the slot for Republic Day weekend next year. But it seems like the congratulations will have to wait for a couple of days more as the film’s team has announced a new release date for the movie, pushing the date to February 4, 2022.
Here’s Bhumi’s post confirming the same:
As of now, the whole team of Badhaai Do has remained tight-lipped about the concept of the film but the makers have promised that it will be an entertaining movie on a relevant social issue. However, there have been reports earlier that the film targets the concept of lavender marriage where a man and a woman get married to conceal one or both partners’ true sexual orientation which is a socially stigmatised topic.
It has also been reported earlier that Rajkummar will play a cop in the film while Bhumi essays the role of a physical education teacher. The film is helmed by Hunterr director Harshvardhan Kulkarni and serves as a spiritual sequel to the 2018 blockbuster, Badhaai Ho that featured Ayushmann Khurrana, Neena Gupta, Gajraj Rao, Surekha Sikri and Sanya Malhotra.
Badhaai Ho made me as well as the whole country fall in love with Neena and reinvented her career and I am sure that the sequel will live up to the legacy left behind by that team.
