It seems like Alia Bhatt’s fans will have to wait a little longer for Gangubai Kathiawadi to hit the screens as makers have delayed its release by a month and a half. The earlier release date of January 6, 2022 has now been changed to February 18, 2022. As it turns out, the previous release date was clashing with that of the Telugu magnum opus RRR, also featuring Alia along with Ajay Devgn, Ram Charan and Jr NTR. RRR is scheduled to hit the theatres on January 7, 2022 and it seems the makers of both films came to an understanding, post which the release date of Gangubai Kathiawadi was changed. The ace director of RRR, S S Rajamouli took to his Twitter account to thank Sanjay Leela Bhansali (SLB) along with Jayantilal Gada for this decision.

Gangubai Kathiawadi is going to be a period film which will depict the story of the mafia queen Gangubai. This one is an adaptation of Hussain Zaidi’s book, ‘Mafia Queens of Mumbai’, and considering SLB’s previous films, I am pretty sure this one will be just as impressive.
Announcing about the change in the release date, film critic Taran Adarsh tweeted the announcement poster for the same.

Gangubai Kathiawadi is a much-awaited film that will also star Seema Pahwa, Ajay Devgn and Huma Qureshi in significant roles along with Alia. Earlier this year, the trailer of the film was released and it created a lot of buzz among the masses owing to the convincing performance by the cast.
Now this announcement has definitely come as a relief to all Alia fans as they will get to watch both her films first-day, first-show without having to choose between the two.
